Bidding ended; unsold again. Anyone notice that the front clam has no license plinth?

Someone's guess about front-end damage seems to be on-track. Wonder what it took to get a Florida "rebuilt" sticker. Hmmm?

That car looks and reads exactly like the one that sold a few months back on Ebay from central Georgia, the guy who had it then bought it " repaired " and had no other details on the car it sold then for around 22.5 if I remember right.

Shakes over 80? That sounds like it could be a major issue.

I bought a rebuilt titled elise a while back before the turbo. Great car and great value in my opinion. I am quite aware of what some of the LT members think of it.

I plan to put it for sale soon but haven't had time. A friend put it up on his personal site. I just dont drive it sense I bought the new one. My brother loves to borrow it.

ORANGE ELISE FOR SALE - $23K

Be afraid, be very afraid

"I do not know the reason for the salvage title, but i have had the car up on a lift and the mechanic reports that everything looks to be in good order, there are no bends or buckles in the aluminum, and i suspect that the reason for the salvage was something like hitting a kerbstone at low speeds, and damaging the front clamshell."

Salvage title on some cars is ok, but NEVER on and Elise / Exige...

I'd skip ANY Elise listed as rebuilt / salvage, IMHO

Just for reference, many Lotus have come from the factory with a "shake at 80". Balancing the tires on a good machine typically cures most of them. Lotus are very sensitive to tire balance.

i would also say that the car sitting at the dealer (or anywhere) for a while will induce an out of round and shake in the wheel. Mine shook all the way back from Vegas to San Francisco if i got it over 75... and after a month it was gone... i never had to balance the tires in 10k miles.

Mine did the exact same thing (Vegas to San Francisco), but didn't self correct. BMCD in San Francisco found the driver's side front tire out of balance by 2 oz.
Definitely drives far smoother now.

Seems far more dangerous than just putzing around on the street. Am I missing something? I guess it's just me, but I'd say to make a street only car out of it and get a non wrecked one for the track. To me, my safety is worth more than a few saved dollars.
Because if you make it a track only car you are likely to invest in additional safety equipment.

How do you know that the air bags were fixed properly if they deployed? Hitting a tree at 40 mph is a hell of a time to find out...
