+1, I had SCC do mine, and it was substantially more than $150. Provided that the OP's work is clean and consistent, $150 plus your scoops is actually a bargain.

Here are pics of Derek's work both inside and out. Trust me, this is a quality job and well worth the $150. Will post up some more this afternoon of the install.

Thanks Dave! And that's for posting the pix.

I haven't thought of doing a complete set yet, because I haven't had time to play with is on my car. Also, there are other people offering mesh from eliseparts to shadowhusky to kiowpilot. I hadn't seen this particular solution for the side vents.

If you think they're too expensive, don't buy 'em. It takes about three days of cutting, smoothing, grinding, 2-3 layers of fiberglass, filler, sanding, mesh, and paint. Plus I pay for shipping to you.

If you're interested PM me and I'll start a list. If enough interest, then I'll order a couple of set and do a core swap type of deal with little turn around time.

Madden - you're right. the sanding and smoothing is the hardest part. I found a small "mouse" type sander works the best. What really stinks is putting on the first coat of paint and finding something you missed. At that point you just have to knock it all down and start at sanding square 1. PM me if there's anything I can do to help.

If anyone has any other questions, feel free to PM

thanks,

Derek

Anyone know where to buy the original side vents? eliseparts.com didn't seem to have them.

Installation takes all of 30 minutes for both sides:

Jack car - remove wheel/liner.
Remove the two bolts noted, and leave the rivet/tab alone...remember to snap the new grill back in behind the tab on install. Reverse and done.

These complement my deck lid and radiator grills nicely and love the cleaner lines. Next project the front...

Sandsmuseum I think was one of the first to do this. Serebo1 and I following his instructions were the first to bring the idea to SCC. This is a ton of work to get right.

At $150 a pair this is a SUPER bargain. Great work guys!

TurboPhil your car is starting to look more and more like MY car

Cheers,
Jacob

I purchased the mesh for Ace Hardware. They had the the right size. The stuff I used was for protective screens over the door. I liked it because it already had a light plastic coating over it. A little extra protection never hurts.

After you take the rear wheels off, how hard is it to get out the rear liners?

Thanks. Do you have to replace the plastic fasteners or are they reusable?

Ya, "they" are building a school off one of my "fun roads" and there's lots of run off and straw on one section of it Need a new raod until that school is built for my late night blasts...

I did mop up the car a bit for Derek's pics though

I think dave's car is a great example of just how good these vents make the car look. MUCH MUCH cleaner looking than the mid 80's 348 look it had... Plus, I hear this mod is good for about 10whp

Later,

Phil

I got a 12 horsepower increase from the butt-o-meter.

Phil, next time at the dyno, take off the vents for one run for a comparison lol

Monsta, check your pm.

Best,

Derek
