Spun out into the weeds 6" from the edge of a cliff...
The bad luck continued with my Elise on Friday the 13th.
Well... maybe I should rephrase that. Perhaps this was the lucky break I've been needing. It could have ended a LOT worse and I wouldn't be here posting this... Last Friday I installed a Von Hep exhaust and figured I needed to "test it out" I went out with a couple of friends to a twisty road near my house to hear the full sound range of the exhaust. I wasn't pushing it very hard (I never do on this road... it's full of elevation changes/blind turns/steep drop offs) and we went up and down the 14 mile twisties twice. On the way back before going home I was going around a left hander in 2nd gear when a rabbit/bunny ran out right in front of my car. I nicked him with my right front tire and then I creamed it GOOD with my right rear. The tire spun on top of the rabbit and I lost all grip in the rear in a brutal manner. The car whipped around (it was like it was on ice) and sent me off the road into the gravel. I didn't have much control over the car and was just praying not to be taken out of there in a helicopter. The car finally stopped with the right side being so close to the edge of the cliff that I could hear pebbles falling into the canyon. The car is scratched from plant life and has mud all over the right side of the car. The gruesome thing is there are still bits of rabbit stuck to the car (fur and ... other). I will see if it's still there tonight as it had time to dry before I took the car out again last night (hehe Andrikos rode in the blood-soaked Elise... I didn't tell him yesterday tho )So that's my latest Elise story ![]() |

It could have been worse. You could have been the rodent.

Poor bunny!!! Well, I 'nicked' a roadrunner in mine in broad daylight on a straight road so who am I to lay blaim??? Glad you made it ok, make sure you wash it. There may be some, ahem, stomach acids laying on your car... ![]()

I thought you were going to say that you tried to avoid hitting it & that's what made you spin, but to have been spun out by a bunny grease trail that you smeared acorss a winding, mountain road... well, that's rock and roll.
So good work! I guess. ? ![]()

The car started to rotate as I slowed down mid-corner when I saw it... I jumped back on the gas to straighten the rear out but unfortunately that's when the rabbit was under my rear tire. Gas pedal + slippery bunny = wheel spin ![]() |

Glad you are OK, but did you have to call it a bunny; wouldn't rabbit have been enough? Now I am sad.

Ouch, sorry this happened to ya but I'm glad you're ok! I have an odd fear of spinning out down a cliff....Deals gap wigs me out sometimes. At least there are plenty of trees at the GAP to stop the fall......
When I was a teenager ( on my way to a ski resort in a snow storm) I ended up in a spin which I couldn't correct and flipped a car over in a ditch, I guess that has stuck with me. I also have fear of hitting killing animals, which I know some people would think was dumb ( it's "just" a -insert animal here-). If I hit an animal my first thought would be for the animal instead of myself. I'm just sensitive that way. I've even considered carrying a pistol in the car incase we ever hit a deer and it wasn't dead. I've seen deer crawling in the roadway with broken legs and it broke my heart and added to my fear.

this is why when you drive your car hard, it should be on the track. glad only one of you paid with thier life.
does sound like your having a bit of a rough spell with the car greg.................. maybe the guy who sold you the truck threw the rabbit in front of you...................to make good on his word

But from what Bane posted, I don't think he was driving hard. And most of all, those rabbits can be pretty slippery - especially when wet.
