Since I know you're concerned about me still finding time to enjoy my car, I've been enjoying driving Liz in our great spring weather the past several days and using my clamhinge quite frequently to gain access to the ECU and wiring to add more sensors to my Dash2 project.

PS- Maine- Drop me a PM about your idea

PSS- Perry, have you rec'd those locks yet? I'm going to order one today for the boot lid, I do believe
So, just to make sure I didn't miss out, you haven't stopped taking orders, right? I was under the impression that you were working out the kinks and you'd be taking orders later.

Does this mean you've begun taking orders, or are you just speculating based on this thread?

Good question. You have not missed out at all!

We took several (a dozen or so and seems to be a growing list) "early bird" orders from a previous post I made. As far as I can tell, there are no kinks to speak of--It works great on my car and I've put on a few hundred miles and have ran the hinge through the ringer with no problems, no squeaks, cracks, etc. That said, with so many varieties of setups, we may see that some revisions need to be made to kit or instructions to make things easier to install on odd ball setups. "oddball" being anything other than what's on my car of course.
Also, my idea of good instructions might be someone else's idea of complete gibberish, so I'll be looking for feedback from the early adopters to improve things if possible...
Everyone on the early bird list knows that they *may* need to be a little resourceful and be open to ironing out a wrinkle or two. I have no idea what wrinkles, if any may come up though. Think of it like buying the first MY of a car. The first batch always seems to have a couple recalls regardless of how much thought and testing went into it...

Hope that helps to clear things up...

Best,

Phil

X- "A little of both", is probably the best way to answer the question

See my last post, which probably explains best.

Best,

Phil

So then I assume it's safe to say we can wait for the early adopters to iron out the kinks and then order away?

Thanks BTW, this is going to be a great addition to our community.

Did I understand correctly that the project after this is a quick relase hardtop kit?

Says the guy with a hardtop he's yet to take off the car...

I hope so.... especially assuming the price was moderately low, I could see that being a "must-do" mod on the charts for most owners.

The stock system sucks.

Ah yes, good bump. I assure you guys it's not vaporware, just hang in there. We've been swamped on one hand and then one of our machine shops got a huge order in from a big customer and had to back burner us half way through the run

I did get a call yesterday saying that we can pick everything up on Friday Let's hope they pull through because the rest of the kit is ready to go

I'll keep everyone posted...

Best,

Phil

You guys are too much...

My "guy" may have even done the p-coating for me so that I don't have to deal with that next week, since he felt so bad about holding this project up. I'm not holding my breath on that... It won't matter too much as I have to travel next week unfortunately, which means parts can get p-coated while I'm out of town anyway... If the missing parts come in on Friday, we're in business I just have to finish writing those pesky instructions so you guys don't go cross-eyed on the install... Although you may end up doing that anyway since my idea of instructions and someone elses may be two different crittersThese instructions assume you have some problem solving skills, 12 pack of beer, a drill (for the 4 holes), utility knife, shop sheers (i.e. not your wife's kitchen scissors! We've all been there before), and very basic hand tools Everything else you need should be in the kit...

Best,

Phil

My wife let me have her kitchen scissors and she bought new ones. At least she is smart enough to noticed a loosing battle when she sees one. I have the butter knives too! muhahaha.

In all seriousness, I can wait. Always prefer for it to be done right instead of fast.

My wife bought big old heavy-duty shears for her kitchen scissor duties. She won't let me use them in the garage. She gave me her old cheap-o pair of crappy kitchen scissors and said, "Here, use these."

Yup- I've had my hand slapped a few times for the kitchen scissors and turkey baster...

Just the other day, I grabbed her holy grail (aka bathroom scale) and snuck it out to the shop (hid under my shirt) to weigh packages. Apparently they have those things perfectly calibrated to tell them exactly what they want to see and simply moving the thing do a different spot on the floor, let alone taking it to the shop, ruins the finite calibration. OMG, there was hell to pay for that one

Hinges. I think you exige guys *may* need a help to tilt the clam. Even with the Elise, by the time you've got the battery and rear hatch on the clam, the thing gets pretty heavy to tilt. I can do it, but it's a struggle... Although the big wing on my car ruins the leverage point (gotta put your hip into it...), which contributes to the difficulty for my appilcation. With the heavier exige clam and lid, you may need a buddy...or just be a bigger dude than me... which, isn't hard Again. it may not be a big deal since you don't have to reach over a big wing... It will be interesting to see what you think...

Cheers, Phil

Grabbed a bottle out of the recycling bin the other day to bleed my brakes on the S-4 Avant. Turns out it was an olive oil bottle and the brake fluid is a pale dirty green. Luckily my wife asks "what is my olive oil doing out here in the garage?"stupid me...
I'm wondering what it would have done to my gut if she had just taken it back in the kitchen and used it for cookingbarf....!
