I've seldom if ever driven anybody else's cars. The only performance cars that I've ever driven or ridden in that didn't belong to me were a 1985 Corvette, a 1990 Mustang GT, and a track prepped Subaru WRX...so most of my top cars have ended up being my own (or the same kind I own). There are plenty of cars out there I'd love to drive, though.

Hah!
I gotta tell you though - that car was THE most fun I've EVER had driving an automobile and I was just cruising it around 45mph suburban roads. NOTHING feels like it with that third wheel I will say, there is a guy around me with a TRex - that looks fun!

Oh snap, how could I have forgotten this.
Messerschmitt KR200. Long story, but before I got my Moke, I REALLY wanted one of these. Turns out, one of these muscle car auto museums right by my dad's house had one (I think they still have it). I wound up driving it and seriously considering it, but it needs a resto and it's still $25K (they are worth big money). No power, no nothing, but man is it was fun. The looks I got in a redneck 'lake' area were classic! The steering wheel is just too cool. The canopy on the other hand - eek. It's made of plexiglass/perspex and I drove the car on an August afternoon. I was BAKING. ![]() ![]()

Purely by coincidence, I posted this on a non-Lotus forum yesterday:
Since I started autocrossing and going to HPDEs, I've had the opportunity to ride in some very exciting cars. I haven't driven many, but I'm happy just to go for a ride, especially when the car is driven with enthusiasm on an autocross course or race track. I think my favorite has been a Lotus Europa with a Ford Zetec engine putting out about 190 hp. Considering that the car weighs well under 2000 lbs (guessing 1500), that's good power. It was one wild little ride, and the driver was very good, doing 4 wheel slides thru the turns at Thunderhill. The engine accelerated the car very hard, and made a great noise thru it's 4 throttle bodies located right behind my head. I also enjoyed riding along for a single autocross run in a Factory Five Cobra, and in it's Open Prepared competition, a 250 hp turbo'd NA Miata. Both cars were so fast it was actually unpleasant, being thrown around by all those G-forces, but very impressive. To me the Cobra was the more exciting car, due to it's looks and the sound of its V8. Besides, I have a Miata. One car that usually disappoints me a touch is the Vette. I've done several rides in those, autocrossing and on the track, in several different generations, and while they are clearly very capable and fast cars, for some reason they don't excite me the way I hoped they would. I think size really matters when it comes to the thrill of a car, and smaller is better. I've also enjoyed the Elise and Exige, and the wacky little Subaru powered dune buggy. __________________ |

I was in the Hard Rock hotel in Vegas back in 05 and I sat right next to Natasha Henstridge at one of the blackjack tables. I didn't even recognize her, but I was with a buddy who was from near Fort McMurray, Alberta (Canada, which is her hometown) and knew it was her right away (and whispered it all into my ear when I got up to look for cash in my pockets). So I remembered at my mom's place a copy of In Style magazine that I used to flip through on the crapper, and I had read it cover to cover about a million times. Well, Natasha Henstridge had done a spread in that issue called "Winter Wonderland", wearing furs and boots in this Zhivago setup, and I hit her with it: "Natasha, is that you? It's me, Mark! The photographer from In Style on the Winter Wonderland shoot from a few years ago!!!" I threw in the bit about Fort McMurray, and since I'm from Montreal we had some stuff to talk about, but her biatch friend decided she had enough and started cock-blocking us all. Within 5 minutes she got Natasha up and waved us off "Natasha is tired now, goodbye" Too bad, I like to think if I had another hour and 10 (or maybe 20) drinks I could have wound up nailing her in her room or something LOL |
