Two girls and my Elise

While I was sitting in my car (top off) waiting for my girl friend to come out of a bank. Two little girls guessing around 4ish and 6ish (the younger sister wasn’t even as tall as the car) walked up to the car and started giggling and proclaimed “ what a funny little car….it’s so cute” with what I assume was grandma in tow. They where parked next to me ,and their vehicle was a suburban of some form. My girl friend was walking up to the car as this happened. By now grandpa had caught up and was looking at the car a bit too. But the two little girls where the center of attention, they where so taken by the Elise they couldn’t take their eyes off it. I’ve never seen such little ones so in to a car, especially such young girls. They watched with big grins and many comments as my girl friend got in the car, as I started the car, and their eyes followed as I drove off.

My girl friend and I got a big laugh out of this and I thought I would share a “it’s a cute car” incident with you all.

Next time a kid is interested in the car, ask (if their parents don't mind, of course) if they'd like to push the start button for you. They get a serious kick out of it.

I try to talk to kids who are clearly gawking at the car and are in awe.... They like it

i was at a coffee shop last weekend with the exige and I could see a mom and her 5 year old daughter walking past the exige from inside the store. The kid stops and just looks at the car. After like 10 seconds the mom tries to get the kid to move. LOL The little girl had pink cowboy boots on. LOL

Great idea. It is always fun to talk to the kids, or give them a return thumbs-up on the road, as they're excited to see the car, but this would really make their day. My wife gets a kick out of getting the ones just learning to talk to "say LOTUS" whenever she's out with it.

Whenever a young person....whatever the age is interested in the car I always ask them (with the parents permission) if they want to sit in the car.

Most due. It is a real kick to for them. I got my first "seat" in a Lotus Elan when I was about 12. I was at the slot car track I usually "lived" at when I was not at home or school...and I never forgot it. Years later when I did LOG 23 on Grand Island NY...the guy showed up that offered me that seat time 40 years ago...still in has his Lotus...but he also has a Lotus 61.

A few years ago I offered a young kid the same (but in my Seven) at the Watkins Glen Vintage weekend. I took his picture and put it on the LOONY site. Last year..this young kid..now 15 or 16 and his mother comes up to my Elise and they ask me if some guy was there that had a BRG Seven and they told me the story. I said that was me...and I offered to have him sit in the Elise. I then took his picture....Before and after are below. And his mother......Hopefully I started a young kid on his love for Lotus...The same way that guy back in 1964 did for me.

+1... and MILF content too.

Wait, did I say that out loud?

p.s. Tony, I have a customer with something like 15 Lotus cars. I asked which ones, he named off every number made. All vintage/historic. He lives in the northeast. Former VP of Cisco. Ring any bells?

No...I dont think I have met him, but I have met a lot of Lotus people. Usually when we get together to talk Lotus...people dont talk about their jobs...who they are...etc. We are all just Lotus Owners.

I would love to meet him. PM me his location and send him my Email if he is anywhere near me. I would love to get the group to see his cars if he wants...

I just seem to have temporarily forgot the name of the guy that let me sit in his Lotus when I was 12. He now lives in Texas with is son. Still has him Elan and his 61 the last I heard. He must be in his 80's. He was a fixture around Buffalo on the autocross circuit..constantly changing his Elan. I will think of it.

When I saw him at LOG or was it the Grand Island NY 40th annivsary of the last street race in NY on Grand Island...but anyways...when I saw him I gave him a hug....thanked him for introducing me to Lotus. I told him it was all his fault!!! (Kidding him of course) If it was not for that...I would have not met my wife of 26 years (but 35years together)...nor would I have met all the wonderful people I have had the pleasure to meet.

It has been a good Lotus life for me.
