Negative.

That is sliding. Drifting requires that all 4 tires are at or near the limit of adhesion while the car is cornering.

Sliding only requires that the rear tires limits be exceeded. This is frequently done with large rear sway bars, high rear tire inflation pressures and an emergency brake that can be applied and released quickly.

I'll watch the drifting cars race quickly around corners anytime. The sliding contests....they can keep them.
incorrect... I live in the land of drifting and can go watch it at certain locations here in Okinawa pretty much any night of the week. I used to go watch them all the time back in the 90's. Always fun to watch them take out a pole or each other.. There are drifting competitions here every other month or so as well as it unfortunately is probably the most popular driving sport in Japan atm. Drifting is all about getting the ass end to DRIFT out while maintaining control and looking good doing it. If you can get the front end to slide at the same time on a high speed corner and maintain control that is ok too... The guys in the Lotus were definitely not drifting, they were just having fun... Nothing wrong with having fun..

You know that properly set up drift cars have an understeer bias, right?

(Not that the Elise is a good car for drifting)
