Went to a local burger place with big glass windows, happened to snag a spot right out front and a few people stared as I get out. I order my food and am waiting for it to be made and see a big table with some parents and teenage kids. After a few minutes I saw one a boy tapping one of the girls on the shoulder and bugging her. He did it for a minute or so until the girl stands up, looks at him and goes "I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT STUPID LOTUS, LEAVE ME ALONE".

5 minutes later a late 40's looking woman walks by and goes "cute car". I responded with "cute wrinkles"

I was pulling out of my garage last weekend and this group of younger girls walked by the gate before I pulled out. One of them yelled out "COOL CAR!" and the rest of them giggled. I just smiled and waved.

Something about the whole incident made me feel like a dirty ol' perv... I need a shower.

Not are out of whack as you may think...

In the '70s Healey (the Healey part of Austin-Healey) worked with Jensen to design and build the Jensen-Healey - a front engined two seat sports car. The car was powered by the first version of the Lotus four cylinder engine that was later improved and used in the various Esprits. Being a first version, those engines had lots of "teething" problems (it was nice of Jensen-Healey to do the beta testing for Lotus ).

So, I'm just betting that he had the general facts down, but is messed up on the details (probably wasn't a real car guy in the first place), and he remembers his Jensen-Healey (commonly confused by many people with the Austin-Healey name) with his Lotus engine that was used for years in all Lotus cars.

Crazy? No, just mixed up on his details...

if you lived in california, your story would have been prefaced by an apology about the choice in food.

Wow. Those aren't just fightin' words around here. Them might be killin' words. For some reason a lot of people around here are still fighting the Civil War and don't understand our "little furrin" cars.

Right, so if

#define oval 0x02

then event becomes equal to 0x03.

Perhaps instead did you intended to use logical or? '||'. Then, as long as you either have an oval, or a dragRace, you will then get event set to true.

So instead...
Code:
if(goingToTheTrack){
    event = dragRace || oval;
}
Sorry... I'm home sick today and going bonkers.
I'd like to submit my above comments as the 'most stupid' comment. :-)

Its funny to see the difference in a car buff and a car guy...great history lesson.

So was it the same basic engine in the Healey all the way to the S4S?

I like that. Nice back-handed compliment. Gotta remember it for next time. Supplement the compliment with anything else like chin, belly, junk in the trunk.

Yep. It was used in the '70s Elise, Excell, Esprit, Turbo Esprit, etc. - up until Lotus made the V8.

There were different versions (and different numerical designation - but I never paid much attention to that aspect as I wasn't into Esprits), but the basic engine platform was the same. Lots of detail changes and improvement along the way that increased power output and increased reliability at the same time. Kind of like a Small Block Chevy that started life as a 283 cubic inch push rod V8 in the 50's and is still in production in various forms today.

One boy says:
