cute is what a girl/woman uses to decribe stuff she likes or is attracted to...
Calling our cars cute is not the best compliment, its still a compliment nonetheless My .02

Pugg -
1. You mean she said it while in a estate-type house? 2. Even if she were condescending (which I seriously doubt), it's not a proper response. Perhaps my skin is thicker, perhaps I care less about what (especially, non-informed) people think. I stand by my initial viaduct.

This afternoon a red corolla sped down our street and stopped perpendicular to the elise. These 2 guys in business suits jump out, put a camera on top of their car and run over to either side of the elise and smile. As they are walking back, I went outside (I was leaving anyway) and was like ummm....hi...thats my car. You taking pictures for your business cards or something? One of the guys responds "maybe" and asks me if I am going to work. (It's noon, I'm carrying my wedding dress b/c I was going to the drycleaners to get it boxed up) but I decided to go with "maybe" as a response. He walked closer to me and I saw on his name tag that he was a jesus something or other. He says he likes the car and wanted to know if I speak french or if I am from South Africa. I told him no, I'm from Atlanta, gotta go, have a nice day. They got back in their corolla and sped off.

I am also a "transplant to the South", and yes, South Carolina is DEEP South...if not geographically, then in mindset! ? We've had the car a grand total of 5 days.
Both hubby and I have had the "who makes it?" exchange with NUMEROUS people...we say Lotus, they say "who?" or "who makes it?" AGAIN ![]() People were asking "who owns the FERRARI?" parked in my space at work ![]() My husband is on his way to Lotus of Atlanta for maintenance work...he stopped at Wendy's in podunk Georgia, and a crowd of 11 people formed around the car as he ran inside..."what is it?" "a what?" "I've never heard of that" "how much is it?" "I thought that the car James Bond drove was bigger?" ![]() He has a car of teenagers chasing him right now! Guy at the gas station offered to trade him for his old Ford Tempo! Girl at work had "something completely different in mind" when I told her I bought my husband a little British racing car...she was thinking NASCAR, I know this because she went on in great detail about how excited her Daddy was when he attended the Dale Earnhardt racing experience after I told her Christopher would be going to Spring Mountain.![]() Last edited by EliseWidow : 03-27-2008 at 07:30 PM. |

Haven't had the car out much over the winter but made the most of the nice weather last week. Racked up quite a few miles, with trips to AC, Philly & NYC. I'd forgot all the attention you get, plenty of photo opps, including a girl in a celica holding up traffic in Philly to take pictures on Broad St.
Plenty of other pics, thumbs up, waves etc, but one still gets me. On the AC expressway a Lexus RX was riding the left lane at around 62 (aghh), for once I was a good boy, kept my distance, made no attempts to pass on the right etc, after about 20 miles he finally decides that he should move over and flips me the bird as I pass, no idea......... And I met the first person who truly had no idea what it was; I always thought miata drivers were supposed to be car people

I was in a Taco Bell down in Irvine and 4 guys sit down a few tables from me. I had my Elise parked outside the window where I was sitting. One guy says to another "Hey, cool car, wonder what it is." Another guy says "Huh, I don't know." And then one of the other guys said, "Oh, that's a Lotus. I haven't seen one of those in a while. That's probably a 1991 or 1992 model." ... Mr. Know-it-all.

Was out driving today for the first time since my car went into winter storage on November 15th. It is still cold here today (43 degrees), but the sun was shining and it just felt like spring. Older guy in a 300ZX with a big wing starts pacing me alongside, waiting for a stoplight. Finally get one and he gives me the roll down the window motion - so I do.
Him: Is that a Vette? Me: Hunh? ![]() Him: Is that a Vette? Me: No Him: What is it then? Me: A Lotus Him: Ohhhhhhhhhhh - makes a funny face. Light changes - we leave. ![]() Sure felt good to drive the car again!

Guy in the Home Depot parking lot: How's life with a Lotus?
Me: Lovin' it. Guy: You know, Lotus has the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production car ever.... Me: Well, I don't know about that -- but it's definitly up there. Not particularly funny, but an ironic mistake -- given the stupid s#!t some other people come up with
