The waitress at the Cajun joint where I had lunch today must have seen me park--it was right in front.
she: Is that your hot car, Honey?
me: uh... yes, indeed
she: It sure is a hot car!
me: thanks

Later, as I got up to leave, she says: You enjoy that Pontiac, now!!!
me: I will... have a nice day.

(btw, I had a roast-beef & gravy po' boy with red beans and sausage!)

Just got back from the gas station and while buying a drink inside a group of 10 kids surrounded the car and started taking pictures. Upon exiting I got the usual "Sweet car man!" and such, however one guy yells out, "I want to have sex with your car!". I replied, "It's a good thing I'm leaving then.", they all laugh and another guy asks me, "What do you do for a living, so I know what I have to do to get one of these.". I told him I did network security and he replied, "Oh... I'm too dumb for that.", his friends all nodded and I said goodbye.

Interesting group that was, nice but interesting. lol

lol FAIL.

Today at the local, trendy, "promenade shops"(my first day out of hibernation!) :

The gf and I park the car, walk over to the starbucks and pay way too much for two cups of coffee, about 200' away from my "bonus spot" (score!). Came back out to about a dozen family-types around the Lotus, about half were children, and children scare me when around ms. elise, so i hurried back. Took up a seat about 10' away as they were oogling. This is usually when i get the usual "is that your car?", but they were too mezmorized to even notice me. Typical converstation unfolds between two of the gentlemen:

Guy #1: What do you think one of those runs, about 100k?
Guy #2: No, actually, for an exotic they're fairly cheap.
Guy #1: Really?
Guy #2: Yeh, they're so sexy:

At this point, Gentlemen #2 begins to walk away, carrying his child in its car seat as they walk towards the starbucks, looking back over his shoulder. He walked his child right into a concrete bollard by not paying attention. I almost blew coffee out my nose.

OK, my elise is parked in the garage awaiting an insurance adjuster for the possum incident, but this happened last friday about 3 hours before I hit said possum.

Background: I work at a uiversity and park in a public structure. My "bonus spot" has a walkway to the entry on one side and a column on the other, so I can't get hit even if someone tried really hard *knock on wood*.

A lady comes up to me as I'm leaving. Says she swore she'd talk to the person parking that car if she ever saw him. Asks if I'm aware of matinee days at the theater right next to the structure. I said, "no", still wondering what that has to do with my car.

Turns out that 2 days a week elementary school kids from "the city" get bussed in for matinee shows. 6-9 yr olds. In groups. Surrounding my car. Putting finger prints on it. Kicking it to see if it's real. The lady helps guide the school bus parking and thought she'd let me know. She said that day during matinee a kid was licking my Saffron Yellow baby. She asked him WTF??? He said he wanted to see if it tasted like lemon.

On a related note, is there a way to make the microwave sensor more sensitive?

Last Sunday I was driving the beach route home from a Santa Barbara trip with my wife. So I pull off on a side road along the beach to hit the bathroom and notice a couple up ahead sitting on the side of the road with hiking backpacks. I hop back in the car and start to slowly merge onto the road and as we pass the couple the girl puts out her thumb and gives us the hitch hiker motion to hitch a ride and was not joking or smiling, she looked dead serious ! I looked at her and shrugged and sped off thinking wtf ????? One of their backpacks would have filled both seats.

I was sitting in Starbucks today and some guy comes in asking who's Lotus is outside. My friend points to me and the conversation begins. He was a pretty cool guy, said he's seen me around town before and wanted to ask me about it. Conversation ends and he leaves, he came into Starbucks just to ask about the car.
