What a great drive!!! [w/ PICS!] - LotusTalk

So, being one of the last nice days of the year before the dreaded 7 months of horrific weather in crochester, ny... I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go for a spin in the rotus. After a bunch of the usual comments, camera phone pictures etc., at a stop light, I hear a bunch of children on a playground screaming at me. I turn down the music and I hear "LAMBORGHINI!!!! LAMBORGHINI!!!!" so I laugh, wave, honk, and floor it, much to the childrens delight. I stop at the gas station and after a number of usual comments about the car as I'm filling up (like "you need a shoehorn to get into that thing!!!" to which I mentally responded with "thats what she said"), I see a black murcielago drive by and turn down a street near the gas station. After I'm done filling up a few minutes later, I decide to go down the same road. A few hundred feet down the road, I see the lambo stopped at some train tracks. After the train goes by, he pulls over to the side of the road and I pull up next to him...

We exchange "nice car" comments and I said "Dude, I've got to ask... I've never ridden in a lambo... can I go for a ride?" To which he responds with... "Hop in!"

My first ride in a lambo! (keep in mind, lambos in the outskirts of rochester, ny are about as rare as palm trees, so this is very exciting to me)

Hauling arse...

after i soiled myself, he dropped me off and agreed to meet up for a drive with all us lotus folk the next time we get together

nice! i never had a friend with a lambo before!

After that trouser-soiling experience, I headed down oatka trail. It doesn't look too crazy from the google maps link, but it's definitely one of the best roads in the area! (Here

I ended up in my home town where I grew up and ran into one of my best friends from highschool who just happens to be my vendor now

and took him for a spin. Ran into some other people I haven't seen in forever, visited my parents who cooked me dinner, met up with one of my friends and helped him look at a new audi A4 he was looking to buy, then headed back home. Got a couple comments when I stopped at the gas station to piss, like "OH ****!!!" and "where can I get one of those?!?!"

Now I'm at home with a frosty beverage. Just one of those unexpected awesome days! I love my car

Yes sounds like a very nice day indeed. Nothing like a home cooked meal from Ma to top off the day. My only question. Whered yo uleave your elise when you went for a ride? Id be sketchy about leaving it on the side of the road. Cool read thanks for sharing.

i just left it on the side of the road. i was so excited that i forgot i should be concerned about leaving it there.

oh well... everything turned out well in the end

Maybe it me, but I rarely get any commotion on my Elise. Guess they are not the lookers as some may think in southern NY.

What color is your Lotus?

Because it´s hard to beat Krypton Green with black stripes when ot comes to get reactions from the public.

i think the color has a lot to do with it. i think if i saw a tercel drive by in krypton green it would catch my eye

I still get a commotion in my Elise/Exige in Los Angeles, where exotics outnumber people.

Yup, as long as it's on a weekend. Rochester is a bit far from toronto for a cruise on a school night haha

With enough notice, I might be able to wrangle up a few more locals too.

Would a DeLorean be welcome at the Lotus get together? I haven't seen a Lotus in person since my father sold his Esprit back in 1990, and would love to see a few again!

yeah absolutely! ill start working out the details of this meet/drive and ill let you guys know what the plan is.

one of the guys in out LOSERs club is actually a delorean owner also, so you guys will have something to talk about
