If you want to drive it and don't care if anyone sees you in it or not, then go ahead; what the heck. If you are doing it to enhance your status or self-image, then it may backfire on you.

I would also recommend passing on your 10 year and waiting for your 20 or 25. A lot of people at 10 year reunions are status-conscious and trying to show off and impress their former classmates. At their 20/25 year reunions people generally know who they are and are more comfortable in their skins, relaxed and pleasant.

One of the cool things about the Elise is that, for most people who know anything about it, it's basically an expensive motorcycle. It's a vehicle that serves no purpose other than "I got it because I knew what it was and I wanted it to be fun". So, to some extent, yeah, there will always be people who think "man **** that guy with his showoff car", but you probably don't have any interest in talking to them anyway. Anyone who knows anything will be like "that guy enjoys his car." If people want to show off for the sake of showing off they buy an AMG. People buy Lotuses because they're awesome, not to show off.
