I am now that I have the Elise.

• I circle the building before parking so I can watch the reflection of the car in the mirrored ground floor windows
• I park in a spot where I can see it out the window, not because I'm worried about it, just so I can admire it from time to time
• I follow freshly polished tanker trucks waaaay too closely so that I can see my car in their rear panel

I'm not proud of it, but there it is. Anyone else?

Over the past few weeks, with the snow and salt here in the Northeast, I've taken to spending time in the garage, detailing. I picked up a buffer and some clay bars, and have become somewhat obsessed with keeping the cars super shiny and slippery. My wife refers to this activity somewhat lewdly as "rubbing the cars." It is, I think, not too far removed from a form of self love, and - with all the potions and cloths and vigorous buffing - fertile ground for masturbation jokes.

Absolutely - I do this all the time with all my cars. I, like most here spend a lot of time working on my car and customizing the way it looks. I do this because I like to look at it (and sure partly to impress others).

This raises the question:

Do guys have cars to impress girls or other guys?

I say a bit of both but to a real car guy impressing another car guy is far more rewarding. Agree?

When I wanted my Lotus, impressing others was the last thing on my mind. I bought it because it was my dream car.

I can totally respect and relate to that. When I bought my Exige is was for its performance as I was buying a track car. So while I didn't buy it to impress others I too must admit that isn't exactly a downside to ownership.
