Are you carcissistic?

I am now that I have the Elise.
  • I circle the building before parking so I can watch the reflection of the car in the mirrored ground floor windows
  • I park in a spot where I can see it out the window, not because I'm worried about it, just so I can admire it from time to time
  • I follow freshly polished tanker trucks waaaay too closely so that I can see my car in their rear panel

I'm not proud of it, but there it is. Anyone else?

This. Except I love my quad halo rings and that's what I am staring at.

The Elise / Exige is a beautiful form, don't be too hard on yourself. (Just don't end up on that show Taboo).

Are you carcissistic?

Over the past few weeks, with the snow and salt here in the Northeast, I've taken to spending time in the garage, detailing. I picked up a buffer and some clay bars, and have become somewhat obsessed with keeping the cars super shiny and slippery. My wife refers to this activity somewhat lewdly as "rubbing the cars." It is, I think, not too far removed from a form of self love, and - with all the potions and cloths and vigorous buffing - fertile ground for masturbation jokes.

Absolutely - I do this all the time with all my cars. I, like most here spend a lot of time working on my car and customizing the way it looks. I do this because I like to look at it (and sure partly to impress others).

This raises the question:

Do guys have cars to impress girls or other guys?

I say a bit of both but to a real car guy impressing another car guy is far more rewarding. Agree?

When I wanted my Lotus, impressing others was the last thing on my mind. I bought it because it was my dream car.

I can totally respect and relate to that. When I bought my Exige is was for its performance as I was buying a track car. So while I didn't buy it to impress others I too must admit that isn't exactly a downside to ownership.

What's not to love about these cars. Every time I look at mine it puts a smile on my face. Then there is the drive........

You may be carcissistic if:
You have mirrors on the ceiling of your garage, but not your bedroom.
You believe birds are the minions of evil.
You respond with horror when someone wants to sit in your car holding a "big gulp".
You notice your shocks are dirty, and it bothers you.
You know what a clay bar is for, and you have used it.
You wonder if your wiper blade would look better if you treated it with "back to black".
You hold your hand under the end of the gas pump nozzle when you remove it, to keep a drop of gas from touching the car.
You believe "keying a car" should be a felony. The sentence should involve hard time in a federal prison.

I fail to see what the problem is.

I believe this offense should be followed by corporal punishment! Don't screw with someone else's property!

Unless of course we're talking about the monster truck that was harassing our fellow forum member as described in another thread.
