Pray4Mojo,
As I best understand it:
Rac Monolites are manufactured in Japan.
They used to sell a set for about $3000.00 in US dollars a few years ago.
The value of the Yen (Japanese currency) has risen versus the dollar.
Everyone who used to import the Rac Monolites aren't now; they are waiting for the price to
go back down to the 3k range. This has been going on for quite a while.
I ended up paying 3k for used Rac Monolites, because new was not even an option.
I was glad to get them for that price; had I been able to get new, their price would have been much steeper.

I kick myself daily that I didn’t save my gray set before selling my last lotus. These were the best wheels I ever had on any car, including some "gem" like Fikses on a 911 turbo. For a point of reference, I paid $2500 for them used in 2006 (just wheels).

One thing to consider, mine got scratched by the idiot installer and couldn't be easily fixed (replace only). I couldn't find any to replace it with, and the colors on the new were quite different. If you trash one wheel on a curb or pothole, you may be hard pressed to find a replacement.

Probably not, but if you waive enough C notes under somebody's nose, they might let them go. I bought mine just before Christmas a year ago, a time when everyone is looking for a buck.

I have seen used sets go for $3,500 so $3k was a deal if they were in decent condition. I do have a black set but not sure I would part with them, even at $3,500.
