Alarm Problem - Goes off straight after you press fob

As the title suggests, this is my problem.

The story goes, I have a 2004 Elise 111R and I have had to replace the alarm control box / key fobs as the fob didn't response with the box. Even with new coding / fobs.

Therefore I've gone through the trouble of fitting a used 2008 Elise alarm control box / programmed control boxes. The good news, the fob reacts with the alarm now and the central locking (the passenger left side at least!).

When I press the fob, the alarm goes off around a second later. I have ensured the interior light is down / battery is fully charged and I've even removed the mircowave sensor. If you leave the car for around 2 mins, the hazard lights go off a few times, and the instrument red light starts to flash. Open the doors etc the alarm is not engaged.

I really don't know what else I can try?

Firstly, the alarm from a 2008 is a different alarm than was installed in the car originally. There could be some compatibility problems between components if some of the original parts were reconnected.
The flashing dash light is a memory, so, how many times it it flashing.

Hi Michael, thanks for your help! It seems you've helped out everyone here with their alarm problems!

The red light flashing, just flashes like the alarm is engaged.

Do you think I should perhaps swap the mircowave sensor over from the 2008 car also? Any other suggestions? Surely the remainders of the alarm system are just the push/switch sensors?

Both the siren and the immobilizer are monitored by the alarm ecu therefore they would be incompatible with the newer system.
