Chilelise--When I had my 2nd(!) failure a couple months ago I towed it to Boardwalk Lotus. They told me that they worked with Lotus to to do a temporary fix of cutting off the old fitting and using a hose clamp to put everything back together. They said they would replace the hose clamp withe the 'official fix' during the recall. They had me back on the road in one day and also detailed the exterior of the car...

It seemed like a pretty good plan...maybe BMC can do the same for you....

Unless Lotus is lying to the USA federal government.

Mannnnn.....I wish I took mine to boardwalk. Unfortunately, they were too far (>100ml) from me. If I am lucky, BMC may get to my car after Christmas. I will update forum on how fast and how well BMC treats Lotus customers.

Holy Crap! I thought I was the only one interested in the New London Lotus dealership. My oil cooler line let go on Oct 28th. I looked everywhere to find the fittings to fix it. Including the BOE site. No luck at all.
I was at the Secorr Subaru dealership today and asked about the Lotus shop. He didnt think they were up and running yet. There are a couple of Evoras in the lot. Secorr also owns the New London Lotus dealership. I bought a 2012 Subaru Imprezza , not a WRX, from these guys in early November totally unaware they were planning on opening A lotus dealership.
I sorta put a new "seal coat" on one of the local NL streets with my old junky engine oil. The only positive thing to come out of this is that I get to replace ALL of the oil at once.

Thumbs down BMC SF - sorry for taking my car to your shop

My car has been at BMC since Dec 20. I have been calling them once or twice a week for any status update. They kept telling me that I have to wait. BMC has never called or email me about my car. Total lack of communication IMHO. I called them again today. According to Billie, Lotus service rep, they will reconnect the old hose and try to get it ready by Monday. But they won't clean any oil stains or wash my car. If I want, I would have to pay for the detailing service. I pointed out to Billie about his lack of communication and service. He actually blamed me for brining my car to his shop during the holidays. He told me that the recall is not official and he doesn't have any recall fixing parts from Lotus, yet.

Well... I am sorry for taking my car to your shop. It won't happen again.

I spoke to Ron Mann with Lotus 800.245.6887 on 1/2/13 and he told me tha the notices about the recall would go out to all registered owners next week. I live 5 hour drive from the nearest dealership and hope they have a fix for other garages to make the repairs.

Going in next week at Lotus Scottsdale for service!

Will the fix include/require an oil change?

I need to do an oil change, but dont want to do one if its just going to get changed again in a100 miles for fix

FWIW: When I spoke to Aston Martin of NE about doing the recall work, they said it included an oil change. Can't see how it couldn't given that the work requires disconcerting the hoses which would lead to lose of oil.

Most of the oil will stay in the pan. They could just top up for what is lost in the hoses and cooler.

I'm going to have them do this while they are in there, because they will be draining the lines and coolers. Although, the recall only covers 1 quart of oil. Probably will have to pay for the filter and maybe a little bit on top for oil/little extra labor.

"CHARGES:
Warranty Claims for 4hr/car plus 1 Oil cooler line rectification kit and a reasonable sublet charge for
up to 1 litre (1 US quart) of oil should be submitted on Lotus Connect option DC603"

I've been talking to Jamie @EuroMotorCars, in Bethesda, MD, since my '07 (July '06 build) is in the recall class. They are waiting for hose fittings from Lotus.

Apparently, there're two TSBs for my Elise; a Momentary Power Interrupt Fix and an ECU Update. I've found out online that the MPIF is a replacement relay and the other is: 2007/07 Class 2 Revised engine programme for '06 model year USA market 10.04.07. Does anyone know what this ECU Update does? My car has no issues, so is it worth the reprogramming fee?

I have an appoinment with my dealer (Motorcars of Georgia) for this coming Monday to get it done. I happened to stop by there this past week and asked them about it and they said they had all of the parts in. Told me that the recall plus putting some new tires on and a coolant flush is going to take two days... And the courtesy car is a smartcar ugghhh.

Yes, dealers have the parts. I'll be making an appointment in the next few weeks.

What? Don't tell me that the smelly old Taurus and Sable former rental cars are gone!

Planning on having this recall completed at some point this winter - any recommendations on a reputable (and reliable) dealer within 60 miles of White Plains, New York?
