I got my letter, haven't scheduled yet. Been debating between newport, to and galpin.

Are they giving a loaner?

MIKE-keep me posted how they do, and if they provide a loaner. Also if you drop yours Sat, let me know when you get it back.

I am gonna wait it out, till you guys get it done. I am in no rush.

JUMPMAN--was yours done same day, next day, few days?

Also are they refilling oil with synthetic?

Oil line recall

Just had my front clam replaced. The body shop had it off in about an hour and they said maybe 2 to put it back on and line up everything, so 3 hours is probably about right, especially if they have done it a couple times.

I didn't get mine done yet. I'm scheduled for next Wednesday. As far as the oil, I believe they will need 1 quart which I'll provide since I use a different weight.

Thanks JUMP. I will keep up on this thread, to see what happens with your and Mikes (with timing etc), so will allow me time to plan.

I also use a different oil, so I will bring some along.

I miss Rich and TO Lotus, could chat with him while he did warranty work.

Wonder how the monkeys at Galpin will be. Given I have had many issues with other Galpin service (not lotus), my confidence in Galpin monkeys aren't the highest.

Well I dropped the car off yesterday morning at newport and its ready to be picked up tomorrow morning! Had the recall done, brakes, carpet buttons and coolant.

Is thousand oaks still around?? I live north of LA so it was trek to newport but so far worth it.

Oil Line Recall

Don't go to Galpin on Roscoe, bad service. Went about 8 months ago and they replaced one line not both. When I got the car back it smelled like oil and on the way home the oil light flashed from making a quick turn? Next day there was a puddle of oil on the garage floor. So decided to do a oil change and when I drain the oil there was only 2 quarts? They didnt even bother to cap off the oil line when removing the line, spilling oil everywhere and inside the car where the oil lines go. Next day I talked to John and asked if they topped of the oil he had no idea figures. He was suppose to check but never got back to me. And they also broke my door switch when removing. After the oil change and a good clean up car is fine just hoping theres no damage to the oil pump. FYI they dont provide a loaner.

Thanks

Was at newport picking up some parts and saw a tech working on the recall. Here's a bag of the kit.

Been using Galpin for a while now. No problems at all. John has always been very attentive to my cars. If you bring up an issue, he will work with you. Did Juan work on your car? He's actually very meticulous. Only two techs can work on my Lotus and he's one of them.

Don't get me wrong, John is very helpfull showing me pictures of the leak. But was disappointed when he didnt follow up in regards to talking to the tech about the oil. Dont know who worked on my car but it was even prepped I had took off the sill and side skirts for them, along with the zip ties holding the line.

If Newport is open on Sat (service) and offers a loaner, might have to do that then.

Thanks for the heads up on Galpin. Though all my other bad experiences were with Galpin Jaguar and Galpin Mazda, your Galpin Lotus poor service seems similar to mine.

The are not open on Sat, and no loner. I believe that it would be out of the dealers own pocket if they provided a loaner car. Because this is a recall there profit is much lower. I would be surprised if anyone provides a loaner...
Fwiw, there is an Enterprise rental location near there service center...

I made my appointment for mid feb and I am also getting the radiator replaced too. They gave me a good quote on the extra labor, it would have been stupid of me not to take advantage of it.

Naw man.. they ain't giving us a loaner lol.. I'd be surprised if they did. Will be dropping off today around 3:15pm but mine will take longer than usual. Having both recall items done, my air conditioner looked at (and repaired cause no air comes out), and possibly my radiator replaced from stock to the all Aluminium Triple Pass RACE Radiator I purchased from Elise-shop.com (depending on how much they charge). I'll probably get it back next weekend but will let you know how went...

Mike

tried to get my recall done. they told me the fittings on the oil cooler had seized, and apparently damanged the oil cooler when they managed to get it off.

they had to order new oil cooler, so now am in waiting pattern.

anyone else had this recall done also had to get new oil cooler?
