Thumbs down 11/04/09 - You have now have 15 minutes to make changes, or just make another post.

That's right. Don't make mistakes.

As of today, 11/04/09, here at Lotus Talk, you now have 15 minutes to make changes, or just make another post.

Yikes.

Wait... is that just the time you have before your post is marked "edited", or is there no ability to edit after 15 minutes at all?

EDIT: (whew, just in time) You are correct Larry... the edit button has disappeared from my old posts.

As far as I know, the "edit" button was the only way to access the "delete" feature...

So... no (and I suspect that's the reason behind all this)

That's f$#ked up.

I've edited posts from 5 years ago when I had to update technical info or stuff.

I've never heard of any crazy time limit like this.

At the very least it would be nice to be formally informed of such significant changes.

Yet more BS. We own the copyright of the contents of every post we make (It's in the terms of service or privacy policy or randy posted that somewhere). We should have the right to edit/delete that content at any time.

+1

Especially since many of us have provided technical content which may change over time (i.e. part numbers, availability, comparisons or recommendations).

I'm both too lazy and not spiteful enough to delete my old posts. It just seems like the slippery slope has become more slippery...

I made a post in the support forum asking for links to the terms of service, privacy policy and rules. It's not really made clear on who owns the content of your posts as I can't find a clear terms of service which should be linked at the bottom of every page.

For example ever major site that hosts user generated content has one:

User Generated Content and Terms of Service – Who Owns Your Stuff?

It would appear they have chosen a different route to follow.
