Yeah, it makes re-editing my Lotus Photoblog impossible.

So, in dealing with hundreds of car photos, I better get things right the first time when I post.

I think this is a giant mistake and should be changed right away.

It would appear that the powers that be are more interested in enforcing their will than in creating a great community.

I think they forgot that it's not the name of the site that it important, its the members of the community that are important.

Right on.

Here's the reason given for doing this from the Administrator:

"Yes, I made the edit function only available for 15 minutes after posting to keep in line with what we do on our other sites. I didn't know Randy had it set to the unlimited option until I went in and checked. Any member could have easily removed all their informative posts from the site. I see that as counterproductive for the site in general and am interested in looking out for the forum and it's members that come here for technical information. I am surprised anyone even noticed.

P.S. We noticed and we don't like it.

+1

Let's just say I'm writing a multi-post, detailed technical thread. It might take hours to complete. Of course I'm trying to be careful and accurate, and re-reading my posts before I submit them. But what if I or someone else finds an error? Or a paragraph needs clarification? Or an omission inserted? Do I have to PM a mod? Do I have to re-submit the entire post to the mod? Can I see it WYSIWYG beforehand?

Wouldn't it be simpler to leave the edit option open and monitor deletions and/or massive edits? I refuse to believe that when a post is deleted the mods have no access to the original...

You nailed it right there. People are being "civilized" but complaining about everything under the sun knowing full well the reasoning behind all of this. Please keep any further complaints to PMs instead of creating a thread with a bunch of linkbacks to gay porn sites (with Randy Chase's name on them). Not good form IMO. This thread has served it's purpose...
