7 year old girls in the men's locker room??
I workout at a local gym (Walnut Creek CA) - Renaissance Club Sport. It's tends to be on the "family" orientation side and their is a men's locker room, women's locker room, and a family locker room.
To make a long story short, there are a few parents (Fathers) that bring their daughters (anywhere from 3-7 years old) into the men's locker room. I'm pretty open minded, but I gotta say that I'm not that comfortable stepping out of the shower butt naked to find a 7 year old girl staring at me. It takes A LOT to make me feel uncomfortable in any situation, but this seems parentally (is that a word?) irresponsible to me. The gym has a family locker room for this exact situation, but the parent elects not to use it. Question is, should I confront the parent(s), talk to club sport management, or just suck it up and go about my business? Rob. P.S. My wife has reported the same type of stories in the women's locker room only with 7 year old boys.

Go to management. It will probably be anonymous report at your request and they will send sheeples in to monitor the locker room in the future.
That would make me feel very awkward too. I wonder if that's illegal or something

Personally I'd say go with the flow. I'd say we have way too many hangups when it comes to nakedness in this country. In many countries nakedness isn't the big taboo that it is here. I mean who would you rather hang out with? A bunch of naked Swedes or a bunch of overly clothed Saudis?
All that said, since the gym does go to the effort to provide a family locker room it might make sense to make an anonymous 'tip' to management suggesting that folks use that locker room (Is something wrong with that one? Are the facilities not as nice?) with their families. I wouldn't complain to the specific person, or to management directly as you don't want to be labeled as 'that guy'.

They don't need to know your name or anything. An anonymous tip sounds like a good way to get nothing done about it.
They're not gonna go in the locker room, say, "HEY! I heard you were bringing your daughter in here and THAT GUY told me about it!" I think it's harmless.

Go to management. This is a accident waiting to happen with the young girls. Not that anyone would do anything to them, but all they need to do is make some comment and allhell will break loose.
As far as the comment about nakedness and American's being uptight, I agree. But the men's lockerroom is no place for a 6-7 yr old girl |

Think I'll chat with management and see if they think this is acceptable or not -- it's their policy/rules.
As far as nakedness, I agree, American's are very uptight about it yet don't give excessive violence a second thought. Maybe I do just need to get over it.

Our club has specific instructions on the doors about age ranges for children in the adult locker rooms. I can't quote them off the top of my head as I don't use those facilities personally, but it is posted. We also have a "family locker room" for that situation. I feel you are well within your bounds as a member of the club to complain...personally I wouldn't stand for it. The other parents are simply being lazy and inconsiderate.

Additionally, if the doors are not clearly posted...that's a failure by the club itself, and I'd demand they post the age limits for bringing children into the adult locker rooms. My wife brought our daughter (who's 6) into the woman's locker room, completely appropriate, but was still shocked at the boldness of some of the ladies...who really should have had some modesty even in same sex company.

Why not ask? You suggesting folks on LT have no valid opinions?
How did we get to "cut my hand off whilst using a table saw"? Frank is that you?

Go to management.
Even if you don't care, this society is to full of wako's willing to accuse you of something. Let's say the 7 yo girl says something to you. Are you going to be put in a situation that leads to accusations of improper conduct?

What's the point of having a 'family' locker-room if people bring their kids into the regular one??

Dear LotusTalk
I am serving behind a counter and couple of muscular gentlemen with their 7 year old daughter are pointing shotguns at me and requesting the contents of the till. Should I hand over the cash ? Opinions please (but please be quick, because I am sure that the language they are currently using is not appropriate for the little b***e) |
