Awesome!!! I already have CS6, but this really comes in handy when friends ask if they can have photoshop.

Adobe still says you need a license, so it's not really free software. See an article about it onArs Technica

Possession of a license key may give you access to the software, but that doesn't mean you are then in legal possession of a license to use it.
Adobe understands some segment of the population sees this as releasing their software for free, but their intention is only to help their already licensed CS2 customers. CS2 (Adobe Featured Blogs) |

so you're saying by Adobe publishing a serial number on a public site is to help the people who already own the software? what i gather is they don't want 5 million people to go through their customer help line asking for a serial number and crash their server not to mention is good business to put everyone in America on an older version photoshop as a good percentage will buy the software in the future about the modern operating system it may be referring to Lion which in my Opinion sucks!!

The side effect is that people who have not bought the software can also install and use it. But, Adobe is choosing not to worry about the illegitimate uses because they consider that the lesser evil than leaving their legitimate CS2 users hanging. |

![]() it happens all the time with all types of software (video games on steam come to mind) it also happens to an extent with actual products... for example; I buy an item from a store for $80, 2 days later the product is on sale for $7... should the store be responsible for refunding $73 back to me because I missed out by 48 hours on a deal i had no idea was going to exist? does it suck for a very small amount of people who recently bought cs2? sure... should Adobe have to do anything about it? nope... as long as the product works for all users correctly whether you paid or not
