Another reason to let the big 3 burn

NO MORE NASCAR!!!

sure toyota would be around but what would happen to the fan base if all that was racing was a bunch of "rice burners"

I wonder what speed channel would do with no nascar...

NASCAR is the No. 1 spectator sport is the USA
It is the 2nd most watched "sport" in the USA.
It holds 17 of the top 20 attended sporting events in the U.S
It has 75 million fans who purchase over $3 billion in annual licensed product sales

I do not see a point to nascar.. Cars doing 200 mph and taking a left hand turn every couple seconds for 500 laps...

Have you ever been to a NASCAR race?

Just curious.

What I don't get is that it brings out crowds of up to 200,000 people who go watch it in person!!!
(and if it was so popular, why is it never on the big TV networks? )

Going to a NASCAR race is sort of like going to the world's largest outdoor Wal-Mart. My favorite NASCAR moment was Darlington around 1992 or so. Bill Clinton was running for President and he was the grand marshal of the race that year. As he rode around the track in a convertible, waving to the crowd, two-hundred thousand sunburned rednecks simultaneously stood up and flipped him off. Growing up in the heart of NASCAR country, I've gotten into many arguments about what constitutes real racing. NASCAR isn't about the cars, or the technology, or the strategy. It's about the drivers and their personalities. You can see the entire race from anywhere in the stands (unlike a road course). It's simple to watch and to understand. There aren't separate classes for the cars racing at the same time (like road racing). The cars look something like the cars available at the local Chebby dealer and are the same brands as the trucks they drive (unlike F1).

gottta love the narrow minded people of the Lotus community...just because you dont "get it" or dont "like it" doesnt mean that its bad...get off your high and mighty horse, its snobby people like you who make the whole Lotus community look bad...

Also, for anyone that says that its not real racing and all you have to do is turn left...I will put up the money for you to drive in the first race of the season, if you win, you keep the million that you win, if you dont, then you pay me a million out of your own pocket... come on, its easy, its not real racing, who is ready to sign up today for such a guaranteed win then??

I'm pretty sure the reason I don't like nascar is because it's a bad/awful/boring "sport". It may not be evil, but it's certainly painful to watch.

That may well be, but what a sad statement it makes about American peoples understanding of Motor Sport.

"If I wanted to see the same shape but different colour items going round and round I'd flush a packet of Skittles down the toilet."

Good by Nascar. May be then we can start educating North Americans what motor Sport should really look like.

WRC forever

I'm allready under the table waiting for the backlash

Eh, to keep 75 miilions 'race' fans happy for a few weekends so that they are out of their trucks and SUVs and not terrorising Lotus drivers.

How do you keep an Irish happy all weekend? Write P.T.O on both side of a page.

How do you keep a redneck happy all weekend? Write P.T.O on both side of a page (if they read) or switch on the washing machine when NASCAR is not on.

Dead on! I spent almost 8 years in Greenville,S.C. as a teenager and I can tell you this is true. NASCAR is for a much broader market than "car people". Have you been to the grocery store lately? I don't think the women I see there in their "Tide" and "M&M" jackets give much thought to cross weights and jet sizes. But those same women and their significant others will argue forever over one driver's compared to another based solely on their personna. A spectacle? You bet! For us stuck up gear heads,(who still cry at night over the passing of the Camel GT), we usually find other series more technically engaging. Not that either one is better or more pure-each one serves it's purpose.

Again, thats your opinion...opinions are like a$$holes, everyones got one....

We sometimes wonder why people post stories of getting their car keyed, spit on or rude comments yelled at them for no reason, its because of the "im better" attitude that people like you have that make all Lotus owners look like stuck up snobs. Yes, its a bunch of cars driving around in circles, but that doesnt mean that there is no skill to technical aspect to the sport... Also, its not just driving in circles anymore, they are starting to add in road courses..
