I can't find the model name or any other trace of my watch online. All I know is that it is a Guess, and it might just start more conversations than an Elise.
I had to take my own picture of mine: ![]() I don't know what you mean by "not really expensive" but this one set me back a little under 2 hundo. |

I have a Breitling SuperOcean. I love the Breitling.
If money was no object I'd get a Zenith. If you want a good watch and not pay too much, Oris makes really nice ones. They have super light version made of titanium and carbon.

Steinhausen and Stauer do not have good reputations for long term quality. Although they purport to be German made - they in fact have a Chinese movement.
A lot of watch manufacturers have seem the lines blurred when some companies started parting out components of watches to other countries just to be able to label them as "MADE IN" --- fill in the blank. It's like cars these days - it may be a british manufacturer but it is assembled somewhere with parts from all over the world. The Swiss used to be so strict when it came to labeling their watches - but even now they can be tricky to figure out. The movement is the most critical piece. These Chinese and most Japanese movements are second rate quality. Swiss movements are considered the best, most durable and accurate time pieces. Stauer and Stienhausen are the same company. They took the rights of a registered name and really mislead with their advertising and representation. Both have been known to fail after a short time or after minor contact with water (rain). An opposing point of view I have heard dismisses Stauer and Steinhausens longevity by argueing you get what you pay for and that it isn't ridiculously expensive. My opinion - be informed and make your own decision. If you feel the few hundred $ for a Stauer or Steinhausen is disposable and dont mind the short term investment - well fine. But if you are looking to make a long-term purchase, either hold off or get something else with a quartz movement. |

thanks, where should i go for that kind of style and good quality? I would like it to last me... indefinately.
How are actual vintage watches price to quality ratio vs new watches price to quality ratio? Last edited by wantanelise : 02-16-2008 at 09:15 PM. |
