Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (Benign Positional Vertigo): Dizziness and Vertigo: Merck Manual Home Edition
Second time I got this from being in the Lotus...first time was after track day at Streets. And yesterday after romping around in the Lotus I came home and promptly almost fell over from the spinning ! Going to try this maneuver to resettle the little rocks in the inner ear - track day won't be fun if the world is spinning around and round...

Not all short duration vertigo is BPPV. It is one of the most commonly misdiagnosed "causes" of vertigo. There are specific symptoms/signs that need to be present (rotatory or torsional nystagmus, fatiguability, for example) for correct/accurate diagnosis. It is also typically unilateral and the treatment is side specific. If you actually do have BPPV and correctly perform the particle repositioning maneuvers for the wrong side you may actually make things worse
. If you actually do have BPPV and correctly perform the particle repositioning maneuvers for the correct side, they still don't always work.

some thoughts on this
Kaz:
I have the same issue and went through a long series of tests and evaluations a couple years ago to address it. I did the repositioning exercises, and it seemed to get better, but didn't go away. I then went to the optometrist to get some reading glasses, as my vision was changing (welcome to my 40's), and told him of the vertigo issues, and he tested my distance vision and discovered that I was a little bit weak at long ranges (I hadn't noticed this). So, very light prescription driving glasses and bingo, I'm much better. Also, even now, if one of my ears gets partially plugged with wax, I get the same symptoms of dizziness and lack of focus after driving. Just some more info to consider - my situation was a bit different, as I was having symptoms every time I drove, but if this helps you, then all the best. tim

ENT said I had a light case of it, probably brought on from the Etyomtics (in ear plugs) that I use once in a while since they are hard to pressurize the same in both ears. So...you spin around in the car, take out plugs...pressure changes between ears and voila' spin city. Told me to stick with the Shures I have instead as they are the expanding foam type and you don't "push" them in, they kind of expand into your ears.
Anyways did the procedure, went away after a couple minutes of reorienting. ![]() I also found this funny product Epley Maneuver for Vertigo & BPPV Treatment - DizzyFIX
