Best Diecast 1:18

I did find some information on this forum on diecast cars but it seems a little dated.

Currently, what is the best 1:18 diecast I can buy of the North American Elise? Ideally in saffron yellow.

I know AutoArt has a 1:43 version but I'd really like one in the 1:18 size.

If you can't find one you like, you might contact Racing Models in the UK. They don't stock new Elise, but do have tons of other Lotus. They might have some ideas.

Also, companies that make models..
Autoart
Spark
IXO

1:18 scale Elise mk2

There is currently no 1:18 scale model of the U.S. Elise version. The best model in 1:18 scale of the Mk2 Elise or S2( European version 2001-current) whatever you wanna call it, is JADI Toys. They have a yellow version on www.Exoticar.com for 39$.
AutoArt has a 1:18 scale Exige S2 for 95$.
Cheers,
Arne

I might try to get the Jada version. But I'm not sure if they are still in stock anywhere.

Does anyone have the WELLY-2003 LOTUS ELISE 111S 1/18 version?

Lotus-2003 LOTUS ELISE 111S 1/18 YELLOW DETAIL PHOTO $26.99

Does anyone know if Jada is better than Welly?

Don't buy the one from Exoticar.com!!! I ordered it over a month ago and they basically took my money and ran. I've sent them 5 e-mails and they only returned one e-mail. They said it shipped 3 weeks ago from California but would not provide me a tracking number. I'm having to go through my credit card company to get a refund. If you look at the reviews on amazon for this company, you will see that they only actually send out about half of the orders. Amazon.com At a Glance: Exoticar Model Company

Too late.

I first ordered the Welley model but the company that sold it said it was out of stock.

Then I ordered the Jada from exoticar. They've taken my money and I am awaiting shipment. I've never been burnt on an internet order to date so I am still hopeful.

I'll post the end result, good or bad.

Sounds like you've had the same experience I have had so far. I also ordered the Welley model but they were sold out so they refunded my money. Just make sure you check with your credit card company and start the dispute process before it's too late. He did e-mail me the other day and claim the shipment was lost so he's reshipping it. But from what I've seen in other reviews, this is very common with this guy. If he would at least provide a tracking number I'd feel better. But they won't give me the tracking number so I'm thinking it's a scam. I'll let you know if I ever do get anything.

I had an order in at Exoticar.com since before Christmas for a Jadi 1:18 yellow Elise.

I've sent a few emails and they have responded saying there was a problem in shipment.

Finally I called. Exoticar.com redirects to HollywoodModelCar.com. The person I spoke to said that Excoticar went out of business 6 months ago. The new company bought their inventory. Turns out there is no 1:18 Jadi in Yellow. They do have a 1:18 in black. They offered to send a 1:43 AutoArt in Yellow instead. So I'll wait and see what happens. The person on the phone was pleasant.

Regarding the previous post. I accepted their offer to send an AutoArt in 1:43 format since I have not been able to find any 1:18 versions of the Jadi anywhere.

I had ordered a Jadi Yellow 1:18 from Exoticar. They didn't have one and didn't seem interested in refunding my money. So I settled on an Orange AutoArt in 1:43 form.

My recommendation is to avoid Exoticar.

Anyways somehow I've amassed a whole collection of Elise models. In an ideal world I would have just tried to get a 1:18 Saffron Yellow Elise from AutoArt but they only have Exige in that size.

Here's my fleet.

1) 1:100 Kyosho Lotus Elise Yellow (1.5 inches)

Strengths - good color, cute, fair detail
Weakness - nothing opens

2) 1:43 Elise AutoArt 111r Orange (3.25 inches)

Strengths - good color, fair detail, removable hardtop
Weakness - doors and trunk don't open

3) 1:24 Welly Elise 111s Yellow (4.5 inches)

Strengths - fairly large, doors open, good detail, pull backwards and the wheels store energy, let go and the car rolls forward
Weakness - Color is yellow but not at all like Saffron yellow, trunk does not open

4) 1:18 Welly Elise 111s Yellow (8 inches)

Strengths - large, doors open, trunk opens, good detail, shocks on rear wheels work
Weakness - Color is yellow but not at all like Saffron yellow
- Overall quality is less than Jadi
- For example the rear window is falling out and the passenger
and driver seats are slightly different in trim
- Steering wheel turns front wheels but only slightly

5) 1:18 Jadi Elise 111s Ardent Red (8 inches)

Strengths - large, doors open, trunk opens, good detail, steering wheel turns front wheels very well
Weakness - really none. The Welly shows the car color on the door interior but the Jadi does not

Overall conclusion

Get a 1:18 Jadi if you can find one.
Too bad I couldn't get one in Saffron.

Jadi vs Welley

I'm including a few pictures.

The JADI is in ardent red. The Welley is in yellow. Both are 1:18.

See the comparison of the two models in my previous post.

Note that my biggest complaint about the yellow one is that the colour is not at all close to my own real Elise in Saffron yellow.

David,
Try Sales@diecasm.com Jim stocks just about every brand if not all. You could also try PeoplesKars.com Frank has quite a selection, I've purchased from him before. I'm surprised AutoArt doesn't sell a 1:18 US Elise, they seem to carry just about everything else. You should see my Fleet!
I also have all versions of Hot Wheels and Matchbox Elises which are out of production, pm me for details.

Cheers,
Robert

I would recommend purchasing from Greg at designs in motion. He is based out of St Louis and has always had the best customer service. I highly recommend him.

Jadi Yellow

I am so happy. I finally got my hands on a Jadi 1:18 in Yellow. The paint color is fairly close to Saffron Yellow. This is the diecast I've always wanted. Along the way I've collected 7 Elise diecasts in yellow, orange and red.

My Welly 1:18 yellow was not at all like Saffron.

I am posting three pictures here. The first two show the Jadi (pic #1) and the Welly (pic #2) up close so you can see a good representation of their respective colors. The third shot shows them side-by-side but the colors are not correct for either car. My web cam at work cannot show the correct color unless it is right beside the car. In the third picture the Jadi is on the left. Note how the Jadi looks orange and the Welly looks green.

Beautiful David!

I am still looking for my first 1:18, and I am willing to take any Elise color! If you have any leads, now that your collection is complete, feel free to PM and share

I bought my Jadi 1:18 Yellow from the eBay vendor "bpsalesdirect". It was shipped from England. It has the steering wheel on the right.

If you order from this vendor please confirm what color they are selling. In their eBay listing of the car they mentioned Yellow in the title, Red in the details and showed a picture of an orange car.

I had to send them an email to confirm the color.

eBay S1 and S2

I just noticed that someone has a yellow S1 and a red S2 Elise for sale on eBay.

See "Lotus Elise 1/18 diecast model cars".

I found these at a local gas station a while back and bought two. The ones I bought were white with racing sponsors all over it. Not too bad for a $5-10 car. The doors open and the interior is pretty correct. It has the European interior with the speakers in the vertical face of the sill.
