I see it but it's done for people with severe allergies to nuts. They can get a reaction from just the oil from peanuts so the seemingly redundant warning is for them. That is one of the reasons they don't serve peanuts on flights any more.

I would say if you have an allergy to nuts .. don't buy chocolate covered nuts?

"Packaged/handled in an environment handling nuts." Its hard to make sense of these seven words but handled/handling doesn't sound right.

More important, peanuts are not nuts! They are legumes.
