It's believable. I used to take my MR2sc to the Toyota dealer for oil changes but lost faith when they kept asking me to 'pop the hood' while standing at the front of the car. If they don't know their own product I'm out of there. I do get asked about 3-4 times a month if the Elise is FWD or not.

On a related note, when I had my 993 Turbo registered in CA, I spent a good 10 minutes convincing the guy who ran the smog test station that they couldn't put my car on their 2-wheel dyno...

luckily I prevailed.
