Easy enough to cut the hole with a box knife. It is not going to help it be more waterproof though.

I had a little RC car when I was in high school that I could not drive with the top on or it would do that every time. It was hand built and made of carbon fiber and magnesium. Doubling the amount of sub c batteries in it made it crazy fast. It ate up the motor brushes in one run and I eventually stopped driving it when I had so much juice running through it that the batteries melted and oozed acid everywhere. It was great fun before that though.

I wish I had a picture of it when the batteries oozed acid everywhere because at that point it was definitely a fail. It smelled bad too.
