At risk of exposing myself, that was my friend in a sponsor-prepared 350Z at a D1 qualifying event. Poor course layout -- no runoff at the turn-in.
Anyway, the Option video where he hits the safety car is much funnier.

Wait . . . wait . . . the SAME GUY hit a safety car? That is awesome.

By the way, I love the self-effacing humor in your screen name.

The 350Z doesn't look like a cheesy fast-n-furious ricer type. It has the appearance, at least, of a car built for a purpose. It's unfortunate that the purpose appears to have been letting that guy drive it. What was his account of the incident?

Failure to turn.

I'm no drifter, but I think the plan was (i) crank wheel hard left; (ii) clutch kick to break traction and get car sideways; (iii) countersteer and power through corner.

Step (i) worked fine, but step (ii) failed to break rear traction. Having failed to initiate drift, he massively understeers.

The funny thing is...we discussed this here the day after this happened.
