Of course, then the liberal bleeding hearts would scream that she's an unfit parent and probably have her arrested.

Kinda have to say +1. Being the kid's 'friend' garners no respect. IMO, that's part of the reason kids don't respect their elders (or authority or the law, for that matter) in general nowadays.
Back in the day, if I talked back to anyone remotely older than me, I'd have gotten my a$$ kicked! Honestly, I'd probably have gotten my a$$ kicked before I even had the opportunity to talk back. |

Well, I'm a bleeding heart liberal and I'd worry that we'd be teaching the kid that violence is a resonable approach. And, while I worried about that, I'd have smacked him hard. We would then have taught him to pick his fights. As long as learning happens.... ![]() PS: I've posted before that peer pressure and fear of embarrassment can be effectively use. So, I agree.

Punch that little fat fvck in the throat! Parents today piss me off now! I feared and respected my Mother! A couple years ago my sister Theresa called me afraid of her 17 year old son who was trying to break down her bedroom door, Swore she would never beat her children because we were raised with a heavy hand and she tried to reason with them while growing up! Evan (my nephew) has a sister and I asked him on the phone when he calmed down if anyone tried to hurt his sister what would he do and his response was he would kick their ass and I said that's good now remember what you just said because Theresa is MY sister and if you so much as even threaten her I will personally fly out there and beat your ass ! Things got a bit better but the kids are still too disrespectful and feel like my sister is obligated to help them financially with rent and cars! Bull****!!! I worked for everything I ever purchased!

When I was 17 I had a guy step in front of my car one night with 3 friends with me (The front passenger to be my future wife) He was walking across the road ON A CURVED section where there were no street lights. I didnt see him till he was 2 feet away....I never touched the brakes from 45mph. Shattered the windshield as he face planted right in front of my girlfriend, then finished flipping over the top of my car. He cracked his head and died on the way to the hospital. So me, doing nothing wrong, coming back from a movie(No drinking involved) now has a traumatized girlfriend and severe damage to my car. $500 for my deductible to fix my car for this assh0le's mistake. Im GLAD he died, he deserved it, he broke the law, BUT I DIDN'T DESERVE IT. I DID NOTHING WRONG. $500 is a lot when you are 17, but money is something you can get back easily. My wife, to THIS DAY (im 25 now) still freaks out every time there is a pedestrian on the road, no matter how far from us they are. So FvCK jay walkers, old man or not.

My personal take has always been that the law was backwards and that people on foot need to watch out for the cars in the roadway for a variety of reasons. Just like maritime law, the smaller, agile, able to move in most any direction person on foot who has no blind spots is much more able to negotiate their way out of a potential impact than the very limited vehicle. I finally saw the video yesterday about the Jay walker. What no one has mentioned is that two cars that appeared to be racing each other crossed the yellows in a busy downtown looking street at moderately high speeds and with no regards for anyone who might be in the road. No one saw fit to mention that part. We could now get back to epic failures, such as the idiots who arrested people for actually having the audacity to cheer for their graduating family members... ![]()

Somewhere around here I've got a photo of a station wagon on Mt. Lemon (Tucson). It's got four flat tires, an empty can of Fix-A-Flat attached to each valve stem and another empty can near each tire. There's an empty Budwiser flat (24-can box) on the hood and it looks like someone kicked the sh*t out of the front grill.
I laughed so hard when I saw it I couldn't hold the camera steady enough to get a good shot without shaking the camera and blurring the image.
