Blackmail.

Hello all,

Its been quite some time since i have made a post and would like to discuss an issue that Los Angeles residents have to cope with.

I was recently cited for an expired meter when there was still twenty three minutes left, this is blackmail and not the first time I have caught a metermaid in the act. This time, i got a picture of the deusch. I asked him to di-regard the ticket, he told me to fight it. i printed out this picture and after discussing my dillema with his superior, I asked for a letter of apology and wanted the ticket dismissed. they called me the next day & told me they had "let go" of the officer. There is sweet justice, even here in LA.

Next time - im just gonna steal his bike . . .

So, my question to all is has anyone else had this happen? I have bad luck but can't be alone here.

So can you see the meter showing the time still remaining as well? It looks like a meter in the lower left corner but it is really dark on my screen.

If so, that's a great picture. Meter, car and maid all posing nicely for the camera.

This happened to me in the city of Denver.

I parked my car down town, paid for the meter. Ate lunch, came back, still had about 15 minutes on my meter. Had a ticket on the window. I think I was targeted because of my out of state plates.

I tore the ticket in half and threw it on the ground. To this day I get letters stating my car will be impounded if they see me in Denver.

That is sweet. I wonder if they actually let the officer go, or if they just said they did to avoid any more complaints about the incident from you...

Most assaulted job

My neighbour is a cop in Toronto and says that parking meter a-holes are assaulted every day.
- A friend got a ticket for parking more than 12 inches from the curb, but there was a 3 foot high snow drift there so you couldn't even see the curb
- Another was ticketed for parking across the end of HIS OWN driveway when it was being resurfaced
- I've had a ticket for parking where its permits only after midnight... except I was back at the car at 11:55.

On top of that, the city makes it so difficult to fight the tickets that its not worth the wasted time. Yep, any opportunity I get, I will damage their cars while they are patrolling. Only flattened one tire so far... and yes, I should have outgrown that behaviour, but what other recourse is there if you don't get a fantastic picture like this OP?

Maybe you could find a way to publicize it and every ticket he's written could be appealed.

Fight it in court

I got a parking ticket once and went to court to fight it.

I told the judge that I shouldn't have received the ticket. He asked why not. Because I parked directly beside a sign that clearly stated it was "fine for parking".

(just kidding)

Return to our vehicles - me, two vettes and a viper. We all payed at the same time, same amount, all the meters are expired and I was the only one with the ticket.
There is no option for fighting it - just an envelope to put your money in.

It's wrong / crooked / illegal, but blackmail ?

Blackmail would be if the guy were to threaten that he would give you a ticket unless you gave him some money, or something like that.
