I think he meant that it was a black male that gave him the ticket (and then lost his job for it).

it is a form of extortion IMHO... the cops, the meter maids, the municipalities... they ALL leave little room for human error, either intentional as we see here, or otherwise.

this is why they are allowed to tazer 72 year old women, beat up ambulance drivers, and give out bogus tickets like this.

More than likely they have a sneaky little ordinance that has a limit on the amount of time you can park. We have one here that limits you to two hours. The meter maids walk a specified path of block date entering license plates in to there machine and then when they come back around to you and enter your plate your car is close to the two hour limit you get a ticket even if you meter has time remaining. The old school version was called 'chalking the tires', this way they can generate extra revenue. Never mind they are discouraging people from patronizing the business in those areas. We have that ordinance in the name of keeping College students from parking all day in down town then walking to the campus for class; when in reality the two hour limit we have is not enough time to eat, drink, shop and BS with friends. Our ordinance states you may not park for more than two hours in a single block, so you cannot even park two hours in one space then 2 hours more in another space unless it is in the next block. It really is sill and counter productive on the grand scheme of generating revenue derived from sales tax, so when it doubt collect from both ends of the giant machine.

This is why you can't win with these people.

I think you missed my point, I was sharing how these SOB's skirt this issues with the ordinances that the municipalities write. Was it not clear what I wrote?

Actually, they used the Chewbacca Defense, and it did - not - make - sense.

Why would Chewbacca, an 8' tall Wookie live on Endor with a bunch of 2' tall Ewoks?

If Chewbacca lives on Endor, then anyone must acquit.

Pardon sir I was not commenting on your post but rather making fun of the AL judicial system which makes Mexico look like civilized country. No wonder car chases were invented in Cali. The police plants evidence, give you tickets with time remaining, can’t convict anyone without a HD video of the crime etc.
I live in a City that the French dubbed Le Banane Republique and we don’t have these types of issue, or at least not as bad…

Complete crap. Glad you caught that lying cheating bastard.
I am surprised you still didn't have to pay court costs though in their revenue racket.

It's really too bad an a-hole like that doesn't get his skull caved in with a big blunt object.

It happens all over. A customer of mine here in GA got an expired plate ticket when his plates were not expired at all. He was told the same thing- fight it. He did, and he "won". He still had to pay $60 in court costs though. Complete bullcrap.

I have about 30 parking tickets from Toronto that I never pay. I just throw them on the ground. Mostly resident permit parking violations which is BS, any street should be fair game for anyone. They don't go after Americans.

Unless there were a lot of witnesses around, I would have assaulted him, plain and simple, I would have made sure he wasn't getting back up, and then left.

I got a ticket once for an expired meter in the mail. It was on a day I was at work with my Range Rover in the garage. The ticket was as if my truck was two blocks away on the street. I tried to fight it by writing a letter, but they still made me pay.

My friend got a ticket for being stopped in a fire lane. He pulled over to the fire curb in front of his house with the car still running, put on the hazards and got out because he heard a weird noise. Meter maid pulled up behind him. Told him he couldn't park there. He explained the situation that he broke down so to speak and was making sure the car was safe to drive. He immediately got back in the car and pulled around the block to a suitable parking spot. Never once was the car off or was he away from the car while in the fire lane. A week or two later he received a ticket in the mail.

This is the reason I stay away from Los Angeles area. I prefer to go somewhere with free parking. Less headaches and *******s to deal with.
