Both fast and fun and just go about it in different ways. Buell like the Vette has the torque which is fun and you don't get in everything else. Let's face it, just being on 2 wheels is fun. My buddy has a ninja 650 inline twin "starter bike" which isn't fast at all by bike standards, but is nimble and fun to ride. My opinion is that even a slow bike is more fun than a fast car, but thats just me. Last edited by SweetDaddyD : 10-20-2009 at 03:31 PM. |

CRAP CRAP CRAP.
So I start mentioning this Buell is going out of business thing to my wife. She's like "So that's a good deal?" Ummm... Yeah. Let's see what is available in a few weeks. With the LeMons race coming up and work I'm really busy for a while.

just made it back from the local harley store....... 3 red 1125 CR's & 1 black 1125cr left all at $5100-$5400
I called my ins co & they state $376 a yr for the buell & I also asked about lotus ins. Looks like $1200 a yr for a base exige & she said it goes up from there depending on engine etc. So it looks like I need to buy a buell & hold off on the lotus thing for a while..... dammit

Sorry for interrupting this program but my PC junkie mode was kicking in.
jap and n-word and c-word, etc are so 50's and are derogatory to the respective ethnic groups. Thank you. And back to the scheduled programming... |

Well I went to the Harley dealership. If they can find me a new 1125CR in black for $6500, I'll get it. They were sold out as was the dealership down in San Antonio. I've yet to check in Houston, but I'll be down there this weekend.

Comon, since when is "jap," when referring to bikes, a slur? and comparing it to the "n-word?" Good grief. Half the racing broadcasts out there refer to those bikes made in japan as "jap" bikes. It's not a slur! Are Kawi, Yami and Cati a problem too? Is this what we've come to now? Being overly sensitive? I've seen plenty of racism out there, but none of the people above are using the word in a derogatory manner. Theres a lot of names that ARE considered racist when describing those from Japan, China, Korea ect, but "jap bikes" is not one of them.

lightheartedly, of course.the busa is a great bike, its my second one. i do a lot of highway miles (when i ride) and its comfortable for a passenger. drag races like hell too. if i wanted something as light as a 600 with good torque and gobs of power, id get the new gsxr1k. redesigned and i rode it. fantastic. i realize it doesnt roll off the tongue like buell or ducati. ive owned previous versions of the 1k, but i anticipated all day rides etc and that never really happened. ha, so if i was to get another bike it would probably be the 1k. we all buy our particular bikes for our own particular reasons, i appreciate that. im not knocking any other bike....id love to go test drive a buell, im sure id like it. problem is, i dont have another 6500 bucks to throw at another motorcycle. i really like the looks of the sb12s, but 103hp isnt gonna do it for me. is that the sportster engine? hmmmmm. the 1125cr doesnt quite grab me visually. if i have time ill swing by my dealer and take a peek. looking is free, right? ![]() hell, at the prices you guys are quoting, you could almost get 2 bikes.

I read the thread quickly and I was thinking that $6500 out the door would be a good deal for the CR, but it looks like I should be trying for $5500 out the door, right? The dealership around the corner has one. I'm going to go look at it during lunch.

I went and checked them out, and unfortunately the bottom line is that no matter how good the deal, I just don't want one. I have always wanted to buy a Buell - they are made near where I live and I even knew Erik a bit back before the Harley buyout, but his curious styling and finishing choices always kept me away. I looked hard trying to find some excitement, but in the end I'd much prefer to spend that same $6K on a nice older 916 or something. Engineering-wise they are very interesting, but they aren't compelling - which probably explains the predicament they have been in. Bummer.
