Hmmmm....

Amtrack is 42 dollars to get from Austin to Shreveport - 8 to 9 hours, last hour by bus. American Airlines is $360 and 6 hours (5.5 hours of flight and layover time) or 7.5 hours (Google time)/335 miles to take the 'direct route' by car.
i would give them a phone deposit asap if u want the bike.

Yep, it sounds like these things are flying out the door. Especially the CR. My local dealer sold 10 Buells this year so far before the announcement, most of them being Ulysses. They had four on the floor the day of the announcement and they immediately ordered 15 more. All 19 of them were sold by Saturday, and they are trying to get more. All of the other dealers in my area are out as well. If you find one at the right price you better jump on it.

Ditto, make a deposit now or someone else will buy it. The word is out and people are scooping them up.

It's tempting to go over to my local dealer with a check and take one home tonight but timing isn't ideal for me. On top of that, there is probably 3-4 weeks of riding weather left until it will just be too cold to take one out, then I'd have to just stare at it in the garage frustrated until early next year. The Fiancé doesn't like riding on the back of these either, she says keep saving and hold out for the Lotus

the buell is a cool bike, i said that. but trust me....u hit 8k hard in second gear in a busa and you start seeing light bending effects.
comparing the buell to a busa is hard. theyre too different. different purpose bikes.

the buell is quick and i liked it. if i can save some money i might strike a deal.
i just commented that its not insanely fast.
correct, numbers are just estimates. A friend owns a performance shop who makes mufflers for busa's, zx14's etc (he's into drag stuff, Brock performance) & it took a exh & I think a minor tune to get the busa to go under 9 sec at 150ish mph.... pretty amazing! What makes the buell so much slower at higher speeds is the same that makes elise/exige slow, lack of power. The light weight doesn't mean much with all the wind drag, power is what's needed.

I have looked/listened to a few on youtube but it's kinda hard to tell which is to loud or what...... hmmmmm extra power, less weight & better sound is what I want... then again Ihaven't heard or ridden the bike yet

yeah...thats where u can tell who has the swinging dikc as far as power goes.
i agree on the pipes....plus its hard when the factory pipes look so good.
dont look for the aftermarket to shed much weight on a buell, theres not much as far as pipes and mufflers to shed weight on.

the brock pipe on the busa sheds 31lbs and adds 17hp. big heavy dual exhaust and mufflers stock.

i think u will find the bike is pretty fast stock. unless you ride an inline 4 literbike its probably really fast.

Awesome.
Take the bus and spend the other $300 on a cool piece of gear. They are probably blowing out the Buell Vanson leather jackets for around that price.

Drove it during lunch today here in Austin (an 'around the block' type of thing, which in Texas involves access roads and a few miles). I had to take off right after I dropped the bike off so I'll have to go back after work.

It's kind of a strange engine. Almost a bit lumpy at slow speeds. It seems a little harder to drive slowly than the SV650. The engine felt like it was lugging a bit at less than 10 MPH where I wasn't noticing that as much with the 650. That said, it's got more grunt than the 650 when you get on the throttle. I didn't press it too much because I was in work clothes with an open face helmet and sunglasses. So much for ATGATT.

It's amazing but the 1125 almost feels smaller than the SV650 that I have (which is going to be for sale here real soon...).

The guy I was gonna refer you to works in the Bossier Harley store. Which, to you Rich, is like the difference between Austin and Roundrock.

The only reason I did business through a different store is because on numerous occasions, my dad, myself, and a friend of mine, have walked into the Shreveport store with CASH IN HAND, looking to buy a bike, and every time, we were ignored. I wanted to go SEE my XB12 before I bought it. The records showed they had it in the "back room" But ohhh no, before they could even think about performing such arduous task as letting me go see the bike, they had to make I was "serious about getting the bike."

I WALKED IN WITH CASH! HOW MUCH MORE SERIOUS CAN YOU GET?! My dad attempted to buy a bike from them and received the same treatment. Bossier Harley is owned by the same people as Shreveport Harley, and people who have been to both stores all agree Bossier has the better staff and customer service. Bob Jensen is a great, nice guy, always willing to work things out, and has tolerated me jerking him around about buying a Buell for years.

Should you decide to do business with Bob, and let him get the commission (if there IS one with the prices so low) instead of one of those yahoos who couldn't care less if you wanted to buy a Buell, here is his contact info:

Bob Jensen, Bossier Harley. (318) 549-1571
2225 Autoplex Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111

Bob is really a great guy. The bike is going to cost the same either way, so might as well do business with the nicer guys right?

Thanks.

Also - I'm not affiliated with Bob or Harley or Buell. Bob is just a nice guy who helped me out, so I'd like to do the same for him.

Shorty, I had a similar buying experience between 2 dealers. When I went to trade in my first Buell I bought at full retail on my second one at the dealer I bought it from, we talked on the phone and made a deal. When I came in to trade my bike they tried to go back on the deal and raise the price $2K! This was at Mo Town Harley Davidson in Mi. I took it to the fat bastard manager asking what was going on and he actually told me to get out of his office. I did. And I went home and wrote a damn nice letter to Harley Davidson corporate. A couple months later I got a damn nice letter back letting me know he was no longer with the dealership! (I like to believe, at least hope, my letter had at least a small part in fat bastards fate) It was literally shaking with adrenaline I was so mad at him at the time and it took everything in me not to jump over his desk and at least knock a couple of his teeth out before his 400 pound @ss probably would of sat on me)

And the dealer I ended up buying my bike from my experience couldn't of been any better. Still one of the best purchase experiences of my life. They bent over backwards for me, gave me a better a deal, gave me the full purchase price I paid for the original bike on trade in, etc. Besides the deal they were just great people. Any time I went in they called me by name. I bought the bike in Dec and they stored it for me for free until Feb, and delivered to my house for free (50 miles away) with a fresh coat of wax on it and brand new battery (since someone discharged the original by leaving the parking light on). That was back in 2001. When I visited MI 2 years ago I stopped in to take a look and say Hi. Justin (my salesman) was still there and remembered me by name. They no longer sell Buell but if I was ever in the market for a Harley I would buy it from them, regardless of the now 750 mile difference. (they said they would still deliver for free and I believe them)

^^^ LOL! I'm a nerd. I still have my Buell jacket (textile/leather -- no ventilation either, just zippers)... it's my "go to" winter jacket.. I'm not getting rid of it!

Put a deposit on the last red 2009 1125 CR for $5000 off list yesterday and test rode it about 2 hours ago. I admit, I'm not a good barginer, especially if I think the price is fair. That being said, for the price I think the bike is a freaking steal. I hate the super low bars and ordered the 2010 higher ones on the spot. My initial impression was it felt light and small. Motor felt strong on the bottom but didn't have the yank the front wheel off the ground pull my Hypermotard does. I just test rode it around an industrial park so I couldn't do too much. Only took it to about 6K. Felt strong up there. Hopefully the bars will come in late next week and I'll get a little saddle time this year.

I always liked Buells but wasn't trilled with the HD mill. I think I'll love this one.

i still wonder what the true production costs of the bike is....
most of the discount were seeing is a 5k rebate from the manufacturer.
i have to believe the production cost might be a little less than msrp - rebate.
i dont know, im just curious.

I have never owned a sportbike so compared to my 09 ultra classic, it's going to be a rocket! I do want a good exh note, any suggested performance mufflers for the 1125's?
YouTube the Jardine pipe. It sounds great!

picked up the bike today.... dropped off my 09 HD ultra classic for it's 1K mile service & rode the buell home. Giving the buell 20% make that 10% ok 1% throttle it would run away from my dresser, what a change. I am to chicken to get on it to much since I have never been on a sportbike before, so I will slowly twist the wrist more & more. Rode motorcycles for 35yrs now but only on the street for 11. All 11 of those yrs are on 900+lb sub 70hp dressers.... what a change!! I thought the buell takes bumps better then my ultra but it was weird trying to look in the mirrors...... plus the wind on my chest was very weird, amazing how much different it feels w/o a full fairing infront of me.

I was thinking a aftermarket exh would of done similar what you mentioned but true, the exh is quite a bit smaller. Maybe if one of the mfg's blow some out I will get one otherwise I think I will keep it stock, at least for the rest of the yr.

Someone posted about 2010 handlebars, how much cost & also how much do they raise the bars? I felt a little cramped but again I have never spent any time on anything sporty on 2 wheels (except for my motorcross bikes that is). I thought someone also mentioned about different footpegs as well?

just sucks it's suppose to rain tomorrow

I am in love with your bike.

I have to have one. I've only seen pictures from the Buell website.

Your pictures make the bike look even BETTER!

Got my deposit in. I've got to clarify the tax situation (Am I paying taxes in LA? Or Texas? Will I have pay taxes in both places and then try to get some back?), and get a copy of the deal sent to me.

Shorty, I ended up putting the deposit down early yesterday before you posted about the other dealership guy. Sorry about that.

hey, has anyone ridden both the 1125r and the 1125cr?
im wondering how much of a diff the shorter gear ratios make...
i rode the 1125r and i bet the shorter ratios wake the bike up just a tad.

btw....in one of the sportbike mags they checked in with one of the long term testers of the 1125cr, and he said he found the only place that makes a larger screen for the cr. its from germany. he mentioned the website, but i dont have it handy, fwiw.
