I believe Evo is right here. I was told the same thing when I was trying to buy my XB from Texas.

Rich, let me know when you pick up the bike. I'd really like to witness this.

yep... I'd imagine it is in line with with everything from lambo's to f-car's... f-gt's etc... you may or may not be surprised what mark-up is, it's all in branding...

that's why these site are so valuable for "us"... I've been behind the "curtain" now for sometime and it is eye opening...

I can almost assure people are still making a profit at these price... small but a profit...

Sorry... Yamaha's, Honda's etc.. all have those sort of margins... that would be my guess... ever see what sort of a margin a Prevost is woking with? ...

Thanks. I'm really satisfied with it. It looks mean.

Well post more pictures of it as soon as you can. And if possible, a video too.

The CR was the first Buell I lusted after when I started getting into them a little over a year ago. It was hard not to get one. In fact, I fell asleep last night asking myself why I bought the more expensive XB instead of the 1125, which is going to be the rarer bike.

I STILL haven't figured out the answer to that question.

If Rich doesn't buy the black CR that's in town. (Which he will, he's already put a deposit on it) I'll find a way to get it.

are you guys buying 2010 or 2009 models?
i know spec wise the CRs are the same, but i wonder if the handlebars are any diff, or if they improved fuel mapping or anything year over year.

As far as I know they only produced a few 2010 models to satisfy customer orders. I think the bikes being cleared out are all 2009's.

Answer: When sh*t breaks on the 1125's motors where are they going to get parts from in say 5 years..... when sh*t breaks on the XB motors, you can just get parts from the H-D Sportster parts bin.

gotcha.
one dealer i know of has a handful of new 2008s. id pass on those till i knew all the 09s were gone.
i know the 08 1125s had a lot of problems as far as fuel mapping went and they had several remaps.
i believe most issues were straightened out for 09.

Buell of Frederick(MD) has 1 red CR on the floor for 7k, you might be able to get it lower.

Their number is 301-694-8177

Whitt's Buell in Manassas, VA has 1 for 7k too.

Their number is 703-631-3750

If anyone is still looking.

Got my vin, reading the owners manual now online. They don't have the whole manual on line in pdf format, instead they have each chapter of the manual as a separate web page.

That's on the agenda for the start of summer. Kinda one of those get psyched things about getting it out after the snow. I'll get more pics and maybe some video.

you might want to add a steering damper to your list.
i forgot to mention it in my writeup, but it might make things a little more safe with a damper.
i got a slight headshake coming down off a wheelie.

Rich. I have the best idea ever. You drive your Lotus here, pick up your bike, and I'll follow you home in your Exige!

Really though, let me know when you're in town, I'd like to meet another LTer.

Hmmm....

That sounds like a plan.

I'll even buy your Amtrack ticket back and put you up Saturday night.

So this would be the plan: I drive out to Shreveport very early so I can get to the dealer around 9/10 am. I break in the bike (20 miles or so) and bring the bike back to the dealer for an oil change. You hop in the Exige and follow me back.

We'll be going out downtown for Holloween (I'll probably be lame and be a race car driver...). I can put a mattress in my wife's office or you can crash on the couch.

If you want to do it, PM me and I'll send you my number.

Sunday morning, I drop you off at the Amtrack station. 9 (or maybe 8) hours later, you are back in Shreveport.

At Shreveport Harley/Buell, where RichS is getting his bike. The line of 10 1125's in black and red has been reduced to two red 1125R's, and one black/red Firebolt. Surprising.

I want a 1125R real bad; however, don't know if I can justify it since I just bought an Exige. And these prices are not making it any easier. I thought about waiting for a while, but I don't have that luxury, because once these gems are gone, they are gone. Man, I love this bike. What would you do? To buy or not to buy, that is the question.

I bought.... however I cannot afford both so no lotus for me, at least not for a few years. The way I looked at it is if I totally hate the bike & cannot stand to ride it then I can sell it sometime next summer & probably not loose any (or very much) money. So I went & purchased the last 1125 my dealership had & there was a line of people wanting to buy it as I was filling out the papers.

Snooze.... you loose..... get it
