I would be a corvette owner, if it weren't for the fact that almost every corvette owner I meet is an arrogant asshole, who thinks he has the best car on the planet and everything else sucks.

So I'd think that calling Elise owners a bunch of dip$hits in so many words smacks of hypocrisy, unless he's including himself. Looks like the foot's on the other hand now. Perhaps he should volunteer that info to his buds over there. Better still, maybe he should try that on his 'Vette and see what reaction he gets.

For the record, my girlfriend has an '08 Corvette, so I'm not knocking on the car. I was pleasantly surprised with it.

And I did RC, here's the thread if any of his buds are reading: Pictures of my Elise with the Line-X applied. Conveniently, the photos have disappeared. Whether out of sheer embarassment .
I still think the Line X idea was a good one. I did not order the car with the Star Shield because the dealer told me it was to protect the paint from rocks thrown from other cars. They never explained to me that the damage would come from my own front tires. I was going to have to repaint the bottom half of the car anyway so I figured for the cost I would try a more permanent solution. I only did the bottom of the car where rock chips appeared. The problem was the company that did the job didn't mix the color correctly and it ended up not matching the car.

I sued them and they ended up covering the cost of the original spray, stripping it off and repainting the car.

Now I have a Star Shield that - as I predicted - is peeling up and I have to exact - o - knife every few months to keep looking good.

Regardless, there were a few other people that applied Line X to the bottom of their Elise and are quite happy with the results. If I had a black one I'd do it again in a heart beat.

Hypocrisy or not, you did open the can.

Firstly, many owners here change their own oil (probably alot of Corvette owners do as well). Yes, $245 for an oil change is REALLY high, but I've got to set the record straight. I haven't ever paid $245 for an oil change, but I have had service done at my local dealer. However, when was the last time you walked into a Chevy dealer and there was a fridge full of drinks (your choice...no charge). Or how about the coffee machine (single serve...not the rotgut that's been sitting all day) again, no charge. Or how about the office set up for customers to fax, email or do business as though they were at their own office. Again no charge. How about the leather chairs that are incredibly comfortable and not at all like the cloth, gum stained, transit system style seating at your local everyday dealer.

There are a lot of "perks" that go along with paying a higher price...even down to how the dealership treats you as a customer.

Now, again I'm not speaking of all high end dealerships, but from my own personal experiences...I'd rather pay a premium for that level of comfort and service...but that's just me and not necessarily the Lotus community in general.

The comments don't apply to anyone other than the people paying $245 for oil changes.

From your previous post I think we can agree on the absurdity of that price point.

By the way, there's just a coin operated soda /vending machine and a few stools at my Lotus dealership. Got a sweet flat panel tv though...

I'd own a Corvette today if it wasn't for the fact that GM lost my buisness in the '80s. I vowed I'd never own another GM product and I intend on keeping that promise to myself. It's not bad, just not for me based solely on principle.

I don't get how anything I said was hypocritical. I said it was ironic; not that they shouldn't say anything negative. We have an event every friday night during the summer here where I live called "cruisin' grand". 8-10 C5s and C6s show up every time. I've never made negative comments towards them but am on the receiving end quite often (even had a mention on the corvette forum)--mostly because the lotus is allowed reserved parking as a 'specialty vehicle' whereas the corvettes have to park in the general public lots now. The only thing I've ever said was 'cool car' but receive the typical nice kit car / go kart / toyota motor and these are from guys three times my age. Every so often there's an enthusiast that will get to talking.

I found this picture from a few weeks ago. I'm not trying to bash them but it is pretty funny. If you look in the background you'll see a guy in a blue hat. Corvette owner and yep, he has a mullet.

I've met a few local Vette owners around town, and say a handful are downright twats. Some people just need to put down others to make themselves feel better, it's being insecure.

Corvettes perform because they carry enormous engines. Technologically advanced cars such as Porsches can squeeze the same amount of hp out of half the size. Besides I couldn't stand touching the Kraco radios in the Vettes and I'd hate to beg for my free gold chain for the purchas of a Vette from the salesman. I could think of a million reasons I wouldn't qualify to buy a ChevVette. My name ain't Guido, I don't have smelly chest hair, I don't wear Musk, I don't wear gold rings or gold teeth, I CAN read AND write, I shower, etc. etc. .......

A lot of Corvette owners can't even fit in a Lotus, so no wonder they're being haters.

and again, mind your own business. I hope noone on this forum ever answers any questions or concerns you have here in the future. You used our guys to get a cheap laugh with the redneck Ferrari crew. That is shameful.

Once someone linked a thread or a ricer forum, with the intent on making fun of them, a few followed, but quickly the LT majority told them to stop. If i wasnt leaving in a few minutes id find the thread, THATS an easy way to prove what I said about vette owners is true, your guys thrashed our guys because we are different.

Oh and btw guys, they hosted a OBAMA OR MCCAIN poll on vette forum....

85% mccain 15% obama

How much you wanna bet that's racially driven?

I like them even more now

Yes if they vote for McCain, must be racially driven....or maybe they are closer in age to him and if they voted for Obama/Biden you could say they were being sexist by not picking Palin

So you believe and promote all stereotypes.

Aw, did the noob get his wittle fweelings hurt? The internet is a tough place, perhaps your are swimming in the deep end too soon.

I didn't insult Lotus owners, I insulted idiots. Any Corvette owner paying $245 for an oil change is an idiot too.

Get over yourself. You are not any different that anyone else. The responses in this thread are proof that people act the same way.

When you get older you will understand the demographics involved with that poll. I'll give you a hint though, the more money one has the more likely they are to vote republican. Corvettes are expensive.

Search my post over there and it will take you about two seconds to see who I'm voting for. Regardless, that is irrelevant.

They are also a very charitable group. This year so far we have raised over $75,000 for St. Judes children's hospital.

See?

In your efforts to feel superior, you prove that you are no better.

There is as much if not more immaturity here as there is over there.

Oh please, my picture was posted in jest. I even stated that (you just didn't quote that part). Why so sensitive? These are cars we're talking about not something of particular significance. Cars don't make people, but I think certain cars attract certain demographics.
