That is, if you don't mind me saying so, a load of bollocks with no historical backup at all. I first heard it about 50 years ago - it was nonsense then and still is today.

Consistent w/ the general theme of this thread then

I make no claim to accuracy, although I have come across this definition a number of times. To their credit, the sources have listed the origin as dubious at best. Will add a citation to where I've come across.

Did you know that Makers Mark is the oldest operating bourbon distillery in the world? It's also the most delicious.

Can't actually vouch for these but they sound good.

* 2/3 of the nation's eggplant is grown in new jersey.
* the longest one syllable word in the English language is "screeched"
* all the clocks in "Pulp Fiction" are stuck on 4:20.
* no words in the English language rhyme with "month," "orange", "silver,", "purple."
* "Dreamt" is the only English word that ends with "mt"
* Winston Churchill was born in a ladies room at a dance.
* an ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.
* tigers also have striped skin, not just striped fur.
* a goldfish has a memory span of 3 seconds.

Did you know that the wax used to seal each bottle of Maker's Mark is recycled from slightly larger blocks of wax?

The producers of "Terminator" wanted Arnold to play the hero.

But, Arnold was smarter and pointed out he'd be much better as the robot.

No it isn't, the sad part is that most people's brains are more active while they are asleep than while they are awake...
