Help Picking a Spouse + My New Business Venture

I have met more than a couple of women who found themselves in bad marriages, including, of course, my ex.

The last 4 women all had similar experiences: They knew months into the marriage (in 1 case, the honeymoon was enough) that this was not going to be good.

Yet, they all stayed for years, using the typical reasons/excuses: Kids, finances, etc. But, why they stayed is beyond our scope for now.

Now, separately, I’ve advised women that at the first sign of real trouble, they should start putting money in a secret account. Put it in a relative’s name, if possible. Have the statements mailed elsewhere.

I say this because I’ve seen too many women held hostage by lack of funds, many of whom got little (i.e. not their fair share) out of divorce court (because the husband typically has the wherewithal to hide money and hire experts to help with this).

Women should also be writing the checks for the household bills, especially credit card bills.

But, the question today is: How can we tell what our prospective spouse is really like, before it’s too late?

Watching how they treat wait-staff is unreliable; some people are charming to strangers, but the opposite at home.

Of course, one can hire detectives, use the Google, etc, but these don’t lead to true personality insight.

Hence, I am starting a business to allow us to gauge our partners when no one else is watching and, key here, under stress.

No, that's just his sense of humor

Hey Gil, you left out "lost/missing luggage"! Very instructive as well...
