Most of my gay friends aren't interested in getting married either. That said, if they were, why not let them? If I were a politician I'd phrase it "Why prevent them from doing so?" Re-reading my post I wish I'd have said 'the same legal commitment that I do,' but I think everybody got my point.

....because most tax paying American's don't approve of gay sex and therefore don't believe that they should be forced to pay for entitlements designed for married couples.

-Huck is my choice. Seems to be the most honest (perhaps tied with RP)
-RP seems like a great guy, but is too emotional
-Romney is full of sh!t. Has not maintained his stance on hardly anything. He is a wimp, and a typical politician. Send him home
-McCain. A little too right wing. What is growing from the left side of his jaw. Does he have an unrevealed cancer?
-Hillary is a lunatic
-Obama is inexperienced

Todd, I like you're attitude. It's refreshing to read in comparison to my cynical views. Thanks (really).

Keith, you say "make smart decisions" and "help those who truly need it..."
It's all a matter of perspective. A conservative to a liberal is a fascist while a liberal to a conservative is deemed an anarchist. Your "smart decisions" could be my "idiotic decisions."

Ugh. I always vote in presidential elections but the candidates have never been weaker IMHO. I don't vote the party lines.

+1 for Huckabee.

His policy on most issues are in line with my thinking. I like the idea of a Fair Tax. I don't know if he can actually make it happen though. He has experience and a goopd track record. He knows how to handle himself and, as said before, think on his feet. I like his attitude. While he is a pastor, he's not running on that. Obviously he can't be too far right wing if the evangelicals think he's too liberal.

It will be interesting to see how the next few states vote.

Maybe we should write in Pat Paulson again. At least he could do one thing good for the country. He makes wine!

Well, for example he would bomb Pakistan without their permission to get to Bin Laden.

Things were better when the farmers ran the country. They were in a hurry to get things done and get back to their fields.

Experience is no substitute for good judgment. He has a very impressive record outside of politics. Why do Americans think only professional politicians can run the country?

BA from Columbia University where he majored in political science with a specialization in international relations.

Graduated magna cum laude with his law degree from Harvard.

Elected President of the Harvard Law Review.

Constitutional law lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School.

Eight years as an Illinois State Senator

Three years as a U.S. Senator

I'd put that up against the current occupant of the White House.

Who wouldn't? And "bomb" is the wrong term. Would I use a drone or guided missile to take out Osama in Pakistan without first notifying the Pakistanis? Absolutely.

One of the things I have against Obama is his record of not taking a firm stance on many issues.

This is from a NY Times article:

In 1999, Barack Obama was faced with a difficult vote in the Illinois legislature — to support a bill that would let some juveniles be tried as adults, a position that risked drawing fire from African-Americans, or to oppose it, possibly undermining his image as a tough-on-crime moderate.

In the end, Mr. Obama chose neither to vote for nor against the bill. He voted “present,” effectively sidestepping the issue, an option he invoked nearly 130 times as a state senator....

The article goes on here.

Really?

I kind of remember a peanut farmer named Jimmy Carter.

He's probably secluded in a dark underground chamber full of duct tape with the walls covered in pictures of himself at ground zero quietly whispering "nine eleven" over and over again while the speakers installed in the ceiling announce "TERROR ALERT ORANGE" every 5 minutes or so.

Don't know if it's true, but there are reports from people who were there that the Clinton campaign planted the guys and staged it. I must say though, that was the first time I've seen Hillary speak as a real person, which was nice.

If a politician can't make a "yes" or "no" decision, he/she isn't doing his/her job and should lose the position to one with an opinion,IMHO. Too much dead weight hiding in the government.

Well, it was a hypothetical question, and for his answer he was universally criticized from both sides of the aisle. Very JV answer.
OTOH, in real life Bill Clinton had Obama in the gunsights and failed to pull the trigger, with the government's approval where he was hiding out. So I guess you would have to list him as one "who wouldn't".

Both Obama and Huckabee seem very likeable at least.

He believes that Iowa and NH aren't worth his time and effort. He is waiting to take the country by storm on Super Tuesday. I just can't take him seriously and can't help seeing him in a bra/panties with a whip.
