If you inherited $250,000 today, what would you do with the $?

I ask because this happened to a buddy of mine yesterday, and it got me thinking about if I were in his shoes.

By this time tomorrow, I'd be 40 lbs lighter, a few inches taller and a few inches longer.

Quarter Mil...

Pay off my existing mortage with half so I can stay in Seattle spring til fall.

The other 1/8 mil goes for a substantial down payment on a small cottage/condo on Maui so I can be there for the rest of the year

Now, which place do I keep the Elise???

Lawrence: Threesome. I think if I had me a million dollars I could hook that up.

Peter: A threesome? I think that you could do that for alot less.

Lawrence: Not chicks that would double up on me.

You won't need to do that, the birds will be flocking to you like mad when they smell the cash, course they'll go away when it's all gone........

Seriously, you have to honestly answer yourself the question: Is the US economy done with recovery and now onto a sustainable, organic path of growth?

Buy an Elise off Ebay?

In truth, I'd spend part of it on the new garage I've been planning. Then I'd hire a contractor to fix some irritating house issues, the kind that I never get around to fixing myself. Then the dull stuff. You know, investing and all that.

Pay half in taxes , invest the remainder and wait until I can get an Elise without a dealer pack.

uni,
You don't have to pay tax on inheritance as long as the total estate is valued at less than a million (I think the cap is at the level, it was at 750k a few years ago) So you can have all that money to spend!

Hey Lotus Fury,
Not to be a PITA, but just wanted to correct you!

LAWRENCE
I'll tell you what I'll do, man--Two chicks at the same time.

PETER
That's it? If you had a million dollars, that's what you'd do, two
chicks at the same time?

LAWRENCE
Damn straight, man. I've always wanted to do that. I figure if I were a
millionaire, I could hook that up. Chicks dig guys with money.

PETER
Well not all chicks….

LAWRENCE
Well, the type that double up on a guy like me do.
