You asked earlier... What's the big deal about the market dropping into a recession???

Recessions are fine. It's part of the business cycle. Depressions are deadly. That is what the world is trying to prevent at the moment. The market would have crashed without a doubt today if it weren't for the Fed buying bank stocks. Riots and death have been averted. That's not what we want.

I invested in the bailout and a rally today. God bless America. May she live on. Brought my account balance from $128 to $2420 today!!! Will post proof soon

EDIT: Correction: $123 starting balance.

Holy **** that was insane. Volatility through the roof. Trading range on the DOW of over 1000 points!!! Blue whales were jumping out of the ocean and flying through hoops in the clouds.

Paulson speaks in an hour. Hopefully the G7 nations will resolve this crisis and send my account balance soaring on Monday. $100 to $10,000 in a week would be nice. Then I go on to create a hedge fund for the benefit of others

I think the stock market will rebound Monday because of the fire sale prices out there right now. We're still headed for a recession that should last a while.

Josh... I'll give you $100 next time I see you. I'm proud of you if it's all working out.

I wish I had more money in my newly opened e-trade account. I have to wait 4 business days before I can buy anything.

I'll be home tonight! Woohoo! For one night only though. Want to sublet my spot? Are you responsible now?

I know the feeling. Late December of 2007... I wanted to trade everything for Yen before US banks reported earnings in early January. Would have made bank!!!

GOOD NEWS OUT:

naked capitalism: DTCC Claims Lehman Credit Default Swap Worries Overblown, Net Payments Only $6 Billion

The Lehman CDS auction shouldn't cripple us afterall.

Also, there are interbank accords in the works. Australia just guaranteed all interbank borrowing and deposits for three years. Pre-market rates are pouring in now. GBP/JPY offers @ 172. Good thing I stayed long over the weekend! My account will gap up $1000 in an hour when the Aussie market opens. Monday will be a positive day for the US as well. Sleep easy everyone!

GBP/JPY @ 173 pre-market. That's a 150% return for me over the weekend, and it's not even Monday yet!!!

I would love to, but it makes more sense for me to continue living rent free at the moment. I'm responsible. Brought the Lotus current as of last month. Keeping up with all my other payments. Not bringing random girls back to your apartment while you're out of town anymore!!!

You're the most entertaining member on Lotustalk!

Hey, when the dollar appreciates against the Euro, does that make us thieves?

The dollar is stronger against the Euro now than it's been in the last year...

What does Ron Paul have to say about that?

Do you know anything about finance or economics? Or do you just post videos of other clueless talking heads?

I'm a Libertarian till death, but Ron Paul frightens me. Dropped support for him a while ago. His economic policy is outdated. My vote goes to Bob Barr.

Anyways... Hope you guys that were long pulled out after Monday's rally. GBPJPY exceeded my weekly target of 180 that evening! Good indication to pull out.

Don't panic over today's selloff. Lehmand CDS settlements are forcing liquidations up until Friday's deadline. Time to focus on the UK, and more specifically, LIBOR. If it goes down we go back up!

Mark Cuban...love him or hate him...his take on how/ where to invest now...

Found this...
I read his blog often...love his perspective on things. Aside from the fact that he is a Billionaire he has a very well rounded down-to-earth advice.

Mark Cuban's Suggestions Where To Invest Now.

Could the main stream media be doing enough fear mongering lately? I mean it is comical. People just don't get the manipulation and treat the MSM as the highest authority.

Check the recent action in GBP/JPY. Bottom dropped out like I've never seen before. Asian markets are hitting new lows. Commercial paper is ****ed.

Get ready for hell tomorrow! Invest in armor plating a gun turrets for your Lotus.

I think a lot of people's actions are based on what they hear in the news. They get scared, freak out, and act out of sheer stupidity. My mom is a perfect example of this. She listens to radio news like it's going out of style. She doesn't know what to do with her money. She's liquid, but she's never invested in anything in her life and wants to start now. "Should I buy an apartment in Russia, Walnut Creek, Germany? Should I buy gold or diamonds?" Ugh. I worry she'll get involved in something she doesn't know about and end up worse than she started. Unfortunately nobody holds a crystal ball and can predict the future. I think people that are making moves now should be the experienced ones, not the emotional ones ready to jump in from the sidelines. If I had cold hard cash today, I'd be a much happier vixen.

Dollars are backed by everything that is available in exchange for them: Toasters, Red Bull, Loti, MacBooks, sex, peanut butter -- everything buyable in dollars backs the dollar. Silver and Gold are only valuable because they can be exchanged for dollars. Walmart won't let you pay in gold.

In short, cash is really an extended form of bartering.
