Yes, I visited Key West last year for a conference, it was way cooler* than I'd expected. I didn't know what to expect - I really liked that "Island time" kind of vibe. Duval Street is wild , and those sunsets....

* - not temperature cool, that's for sure (it was bloody hot and humid).

I didn't really care for Key West that much. Walking around an old cemetary in 95 degree heat and 85% humidity was not fun. I much prefer Madiera Beach or Musky fishing in the north woods or Canada.

What were you doing wandering around in a cemetary. You're supposed to be in a bar listening to Buffet while downing a cold one.

Key West is great! I'd move there in a heartbeat if there were anything to do for work other than bartend or sail boats.

In Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville I discovered a "Loaded Landshark", which is a Landshark beer topped off with a shot of Tequila
I LOVE Key West.

The cemetary was the wife's idea. I did enjoy sitting around the Tiki bar in the evenings once the temps were out of the 90's. Word to the wise - don't go to Key West in July. Again, the wife's idea.

I went to a medical meeting accompanied by my wife and daughter in January about 14 years ago. At the end of the week, the twelve year old daughter said "let's just send for our stuff and never go back there (northern Wisconsin) let's just stay here." We laughed, but every winter thereafter, the daughter wanted to go back to Key West. When she turned 18, she quit junior college, packed her things and moved to Key West. She's lived there ever since. We visit every year but it loses it's luster after a few days. Mainly a place for young people, gays, ex-hippies, and artists. Like Vegas, everyone should see it, if only just once...Dave

The wife and I were down there during Fantasy Fest one year. It is quite a sight to see.

been there a few times driving my car or RV, always stay on stock island at Boyds camping area, the ocean is a few feet from my bumper

It's definantly one of my favorite places to visit..... I have mostly gone there during spring break which is definantly a lot of fun... but I am to old to hit the bars any more. Last time was November 07 which was still fun just a little on the cool side & the days were to short. One of the best things to do is go to the Dry Tortuga's which is a 2-3hr boat ride west south west of Key West. It's a old US fort & it's just beautifull there!!

I have always wanted to go there in the summer since that's suppose to be the best time for snorkeling/diving..... to much of a crapp-shoot doing that any other time of the year.

Not sure if I could move there though... VERY expensive to live there & it's also not as quiet as it use to be 10-15yrs ago.

Uh Oh. I just puckered up a bit. I think I'll think about the girls the cops chased me away from tonight.

Is that over by The Galleon/Hyatt? My dad keeps his boat over there (A&B Marina) for a couple of months every year around Fantasy Fest - better than a hotel room . I'm pretty sure that the channel goes right by that island if it's where I think it is.

Yep, I believe that's it to the left.

You are correct, sir! You must have taken that from the other side of the harbor; I know there is a nice bar that has good music over there but the name slips me now. Great place to hang out! (I also find it funny that they built cheap-construction $1M+ townhomes right next to there that apparently have taken issue with the live entertainment. ) But it looks like you had a nice vay-kay!

BTW, my dad keeps his boat at the end of the dock coming straight off A&B Lobster House. Last time I was down there helping him move it, there were offshore powerboat races going on. It was a pretty sweet vantage point.
