Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness, Healthcare and the Internet
May be old news to some of you but as we still have dial-up internet (and currently am connected at 14.4kbps due to a phone line problem) I'm a little jealous and may be moving to Finland unless Broadband follows right after Healthcare here in the States
.Finland grants 5.2m souls the right to 1Mb internet ? The Register

Or you could move to Estonia. They've been providing government support for their citizens 'net use for years. I believe they still have the highest internet and computer usage. They recently conducted their national elections via the 'net.
Dial up...good lord...I imagine you hand-cranking a generator like one of those World War II phones. Tom |

Just to be clear, the law grants them the right to have access to it. It doesn't provide it. Finns still have to contract with an ISP. But the lowest bandwidth is 1 Mbit/sec.

And that's part of it. Other than dial-up the option that we have is DSL which consistently runs (this far from the closest routing station) at an average of 60-90kbps at $35/mos. I pay $4.95/mos for my (usu) 48kbps connection.
