Need advice: proper attire

This weekend I have to go to a Christening for my cousin's new baby. I have no idea what the proper attire is, as the last one I went to was probably 25 years ago. Any help would be great; I don't want to show up looking like a hayseed. Thanks.

I'd go with a shirt & tie, jacket would be optional. Casual pants, not jeans. No running shoes.

dress like a dentist at his daughters eighth grade graduation from a private school - that should pretty much cover it

Now I was thinking the jacket, but not necessarily the tie, but either would be fine. I would imagine the baby's father will be in a suit and tie.

Based on few posts I've seen in the past, one of which was Randy Chase's regarding this forum and its purpose, I am left asking myself, what do posts such as this have to do with this forum or Lotus cars in general? Keep in mind, I know that this statement could be interpreted as a slam, which it is NOT, but one made more out of curiosity and this is a perfect example.
I repeat, I am not bashing this post and it's author Cardinal at all, I am just curious about why some people get flamed for posts that aren't Lotus related, while others can post things like where to by a suit in LA and everyone seemingly looks the other way.
I'm just a little confused and maybe I shouldn't care, but it is apparent that not all of us are on the same page regarding this.

Its because this thread is in the "other" section of the forum and not the "General" section which clearly states that it should be lotus or elise related.

Is this in the "General" section? Nope, so its fine.

I think some of it has to do with time in the forum, be it right or wrong, but if someone came in with their first post and asked what to wear to a Christening, he would have ripped to shreds.

As they said

This is in the "community" section of the forum - which is what this place is to those who have been here a long time. It is a place you can chat with your friends as if you were on a car run and chatting at the beginning or end

Since you are on the East coast you need to dress-up a bit. In CO dressing-up is simply polishing your boots.
Use a "Lotus" shirt as a undershirt- Now this thread is Lotus related!
Congrats.
