It's one thing to discontinue a model, but this is a bit cold.

Ruthless Engineering. (Sounds like something Eazy-E would've come up with.... Ice Cube already has a degree in Architecture.... seems like a start! LOL!)

But seriously... I miss my Blast. A fantastic first bike and commuter! Let's hope Buell comes out with something to replace it.... the Ninja 250R seems like a good target to go after....

I love em... and I especially love the color options and 360 views you can get of the *cough* "new" blast

Terrific sense of humor on Buell's part!

I don't really get it. How are they supposedly mocking making "cute" bikes, when they are the ones who did it? They never seem to tie it up with a "our big corporate parents made us do it, but we've had enough and told them to screw off" or something. Without that resolution it just seems like a weak publicity stunt.

I don't get it. Is a redesign coming?

^^^ Indeed it's a complete 180 from where they were say a year or two ago with their marketing of baby Buell...... I doubt this was a corporate smackdown though.... Harley uses the Blast extensively in it's "Rider's Edge" program.... no point in killing their classroom bikes!

No, I meant that Harley might have made Buell create the Blast, or at least that could have been the angle. This also seems to be a weird slap in the face to the people who bought Blasts as an entry into riding - which is a great idea. Maybe very few of those people then moved up to other Buells.

^^^ Very good point. The Blast was a Buell in many aspects (centralized exhaust for example), but I suspected that parent H-D was making Buell take the reputation hit in making an affordable starter bike... they do not ever want to make a "cheap" H-D.

Their using it as a marketing tool saying now they only build sport bikes, but they still build the Ulysses and that is definitely not a sport bike.

hmmm... I could be wrong, but as far as motorcycles go, I've found it more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than to ride a fast bike and be unable to ride it as fast as you want to.

Case in point, I'd prefer riding an Aprilia RS125 or BMW F800 or Suzuki SV650 or even a new Ninja250 on the track over a GSXR1000 or an R1. It's just more fun.

The Blast was fun, competent, and a great starter bike. Sad to see it go. I think it is a poor decision.

^^^ I seriously hope they're replacing it, not just ending it.

Always wanted to ride one. It seemed like it might be a throwback to the single cylinder sports bikes of old. Ya, I remember the single cylinder Ducati's at Marsh Motorcycle (Freddy Marsh RIP).
