New Mac v.s. Pc commercial is full of CRAP!!!!

Ok, so I'm watching TV and this damn thing just set me off.

It's the fat nerd PC guy, and some "cute" girl hanging out with the Mac dork.

So the PC guy brings in "the new top of the line pc" who is this very stereo typical 6-5 "good looking" business man...and this stupidity ensues:

Girl "I want a big screen"
TopPC "I've got it"
Girl "I want a fast processor"
TopPC "I've got just what you're looking for"
Girl "I also want it to work"
(ok, a non factual non defined comment...wtf is "I want it to work"...every PC I have works, they work great...UGH! If you can't get your PC to work I doubt you can get your Mac to work, because getting a modern computer to "work" is trivial...super annoying)
TopPC *acts nervous*
Girl "..oh I also don't want tons of viruses"
(REALLY? I don't even fregin' really guard my PC of viruses, and I download torrents and all that crap. This comment is just straight up stupid, tons...yes...my PC has TONS of viruses. Again, super annoying.)
TopPC *acts nervous* "well you just have to expect a few of those things with a pc"

and that's enough to piss me off. I *HATE* how she starts with 2 factual comments that make sense, a big screen and a fast processor...which OBVIOUSLY a PC can provide......then finds a problem with the PC because I guess it "might not work" and comes with "tons of viruses" which are subjective idiot comments.

My Imac gets that godamn spinning wheel of death much more than my PC ever goes belly up. Not to mention I'd really like it if I could get a vertical hierarchy directory view of my computer that I paid for.

At any rate, I can't believe people fall for this crap.

Targeted audience: female.

Technique: Freudian.

Not as good as the symbolic visuals in ED ads, but entertaining.

Apple Tops PC Reliability List | News | The Mac Observer

"Apple also beat out its PC competition to take the top spot in the American Customers Satisfaction Index this week. Apple scored 84 out of 100, and Dell came in second with a score of 75. The spread between Apple and Dell was called "one of the largest gaps between first and second place for any industry.""

nuff said.

Customer Satisfaction Surveys tell exactly what the group that's doing them wants them to say...along with most polls.

I enjoy the mac commercials and will stop FF through commercials just to watch them. I don't really care for my macbook pro over my PCs. By comparison PC commercials (which I suppose is just MS) pretty much only has Kylie and her fish Dorky -- extreme cute power -- going for them in the TV advert worth mentioning category

lol Force Quit...is there a task manager in OS-X...or do I have to open a shell?

yeah it just hit a nerve because it's a BS advertising method. For what I do for a living, a mac would have scored 0 on a satisfaction survey. I mean, unless you use your computer for porn, e-mail and music....and that's it. And before you jump down my throat I can tell you that a lot of software I use (3d software) runs WORSE on a mac, not because MACS SUCK...but because the software is written mostly for PCs...so they score LOW on satisfaction for me. UNLESS you fancy not being able to use the softwares various GUIs..etc. And don't EVEN bring up Photoshop...11ty billion years ago it ran better on macs...those days have been over for a LONG TIME.

Macs are plenty good, I think they are actually good enough to stand up on their own merrit without lying to the people. I mean VIRUSES..come ON...NOT getting a virus on your computer is trivial, how can one use it as a reason to not buy another type of computer.

It's just typical american BS...feed us what we need through fear!!!!!

And "customer satisfaction"...come on....of course apple customers are more satisfied..they get the GENIUS bar, and that awesome apple shopping experience where homeless kids try to tell me what a computer can do with odd devices hanging around their neck. I have a feeling that if you took an apple store, and just replaced all their products with a Dell version...Dell would have higher customer satisfaction. And Customer Satisfaction has NOTHING to do with computer hardware.

You know what's not reliable..idiot consumers who install endless amounts of crap on their machines and end up ruining it.

I'd love my macbook a whole lot more if it could seemlessly support dual monitors and run Front Row on the external.

re: the wheel. I'll be honest, this mac is my first one...and I bought into the hype. I thought all software would install instantly, and it would work perfectly and this and that.

Safari crashes on this Imac pretty often, and on occasion I have to do a hard reboot because anything I do causes me to get that damn little spinning wheel. I'd love to pull up a task manager and see what's happening on my computer but I'm not sure there is one, i need to do the research.

I would say this lifelong PC users opinion of a mac is that it looks nice in my living room, and it surfs the web as good as my PC. But I can also say that i haven't had a browser crash on my laptop yet...and it's a Sony VAIO..good GOD!

I am definitely not a computer expert, in fact I am an infamous Luddite. That said, I would NEVER go back to a PC at home and I continue to deal with the daily freezes and crashes of our Windows based computers at work. In our department, we started with one nerd with a Mac and he has gradually converted the whole department to Mac's for home use. It's not that I don't have a few issues with Apple but at least I don't have to reboot the computer ever 10 minutes and take the hard drive in to the local computer shop every six months to have the hard drive cleaned out any longer. Not being "in to" computers and using them only as a tool and not entertainment or a lifestyle necessity, I find that Apple's advertising addresses issues that are my real concerns...Dave

Both my Mac desktops can handle 2 30" LCDs.... my Mac laptop can handle both it's 15" display and an external 30" LCD

What's LAME is not knowing what you're talking about...

"Once you try Mac you'll never go back!!" I'm RENDERMAN and I approve this message but let's not get carried away. The people at the Apple store are a bunch of a*s holes, they think they're rock stars!! (Screw you man I'm just asking a question) Last time I was there I was told if I was 10 minutes late to my appointment it would be canceled, yet I waited over an hour for them and didn't even get an I'm sorry, we're too busy...

What is the point of this thread? We all know that the Mac vs. PC argument is like discussing religion or politics - no one wins.

That said, how many people do you know that used to have a Mac, switched to a PC and love it. I can't think of anyone I know. In fact all I hear is the opposite.

Mac/PC?

Why cry, just run bootcamp

Apple - Mac OS X - Windows Compatibility - How Mac works with PCs

Or if you're an uber nerd, just have multiple machines.
