Money won't solve the problems in our schools. There are lots of solutions floating around out there... the two biggest problems don't include funding. They are:

1) Apathetic parents, leading to apathetic students
2) Teacher's unions that focus on guaranteed jobs/retirement programs for liberal arts majors, not providing real education to children.

If killing Americans is the disease then destoying our enemies is the best cure!!

If you think that Barack Obama"s charisma and eloquence will save us from a nuclear Iran you are only fooling yourself. They want us DEAD. Neville Chamberlain told the Btitish that there would be "Peace In Our Time" after he spoke with Hitler. Mean while Winston Churchill was warning of the rise of the Third Reich. If they had listened to Churchill instead of Chamberlain WW2 would not have been the horrific conflict that it was.

If you think that Obama can simply talk our enemies out of their desire to obtain nuclear weapons and then to use them against us history will repeat itself.

The solution is not more money thrown at the problem. The solution is a voucher system or some other system that will provide an alternative to public education. Competition will improve education just as it improves the cars we drive. The kids that need this the most are in the inner cities where the drop out rate is the highest.

Apathetic single parents. And, busing. If ever you wanted to destroy a school system you couldn't do it better then taking a HUGE portion of the funds that could have gone for better teachers, books, infrastruture, etc. and use it so kids could take on an extra 2-3 hours a day (waiting for the bus and the ride) doing nothing.

Change it like this:

"If killing INNOCENT HUMANS is the disease....."
Then you have the idea.
This involves the ENTIRE world, not just Americans.

The entire world must unite to "cure" this disease. Not just United States.
Remember Bali? Madrid? London? Bombay? Russia too. The list goes on and on.....

Heard you say this before.

You are wrong.

Money for more teachers, better teachers.

That's the answer...

But that's my opinion.

+1 yes I can agree partially (INNOCENT HUMANS) with that. Unfortunately we can't wait for the rest of the world to get on board and have to do it with the help we have.

Better teacher does not equal to better students. In the end, it still comes down to parentiing. It's still a parent's job to raise their kids, not the schools.

This is a lie perpetuated by the right wing.

The difference between Obama's voting record in the Senate and Clinton (who's considered more "moderate" or "centrist") is... TWO votes!

Here they are:

(1)Establish a Senate Office of Public Integrity to handle ethics complaints against senators. January 18. (27-71) C-1

Clinton voted No, Obama Yes

(2)Allow certain immigrants to stay in the United States while renewing their visas. June 6. (41-57) C-2

Clinton voted No, Obama Yes

So with a TWO vote difference, he's considered "one of the most Liberal Senators in the Senate".

The facts say otherwise.

Nothing about where he falls in the spectrum with respect to Clinton. And I sure as heck don't consider Clinton a centrist...

flash the facts do say otherwise.
clinton is also incredibly liberal, but she, and the media would have us think otherwise.

she will say and do anything to win.

She is a liar. we are also being lied to daily by the media.
She, like Obama, is very liberal in her politics, and how she would like the country to be governed.
as you put it, the "facts" say otherwise; unless one has the ability to think critically for themself, and not blindly believe anything they see in print or on TV.
you see what you want to see, and hear what you want to hear.
no matter, she is done, its obama vs mccain for the elections in Nov.

Better teachers? OK... I'll bite. Why do you consider the current crop of teachers inadequate, and what qualifications would a better teacher have?

BTW, I'm a product of the NYC public school system. My mother has been active as a concerned parent/citizen/school board member since the 70's... so I have a bit of inside info on this.

Let's also talk about McCain. I think he's trying to pull the wool over America's eyes when he calls himself a "Conservative".

That's a lie!

This is the same guy who wants amnesty for illegal aliens, opposed the "Bush tax cuts", co-sponsored McCain/Feingold, wants to shut down Guantanamo Bay, opposes "advanced interrogation techniques", etc... etc...

His mouth says one thing, but his record says another.

Talk about spin!

This is exactly what others are praising him for. Another way to look at this would be to say that he makes his own decisions on the issues and he's not afraid to cross party lines if he thinks that it's the right thing to do.

It's not spin. I applaud SOME of his efforts to cross the aisle. But to call himself a Conservative when it is polictically expedient (during the Republican primaries) when he is actually the most Liberal Republican Senator, second to Arlen Specter, is a lie!

+1

Fact: All politicians pander to get votes. Comes with the territory

What will they really do when they're in office?
Look at their voting record. McCain is a moderate. Obama is far left.
