Already discredited.

There was an interesting "poll" in the Post the other day. In answer to the question, more than half the people responded with Obama (although McCain had about 45% positive). The question was: "Which candidate will bring the needed change to Washington?". This of course assumes that Obama's champaign that change is necessary is taken for granted - there was no option to "Continue the way things are".
Well, Tim, bear in mind that 81% of the country has already been polled and say we need a change, that we're going in the wrong direction, etc.

So, why re-ask that question when those results are in?

May I mention the time-worn std Republican tactic when things go horribly bad: Blame the media? I'd say "nice try" but we both know it wasn't.

We'll ignore that fact that he was helped by the media's "crush" on Obama. A recent independent study determined that 91% of media reports and reporters portray Obama in a positive light, ignoring any negatives. We won't even get into the fact that if anybody has the audacity to question Obama's qualifications or past actions or associations, they are labeled a racist.;
You are right about the "racist" stuff happening ocassionaly.

But,

1. Are you denying all of those lies that have been uncovered? Shirley, you are not serious after all these reports, all this time.

2. Yes, sad for you to hear, this admin lied about many, many things. Um...so you want to blame the media and, now, Obama.

You keep denying the undeniable.

Be a man. Face that your choice in 2004 was a bad one. One that lead to disastrous results no matter what yardstick is used.

Sorry, one yardstick is good: The very rich got very much richer. My mistake.

Tim, you are sort of the grand old man of this site, so it pains me to see your logic failing you. Look at the primaries before McSame was chosen. Those are on what I based my correct statements.

The rest of the paragraph is unworthy of comment.

Tim, you didn't even know Bush promised to continue the assault weapons ban until I told you.........yes, another bush lie. Given how much this topic means to you, I doubt you thought much about your last vote.

If the population of the US increases by 20 million people a year, a million new poor is not unreasonable. Your statistics are meaningless unless you put it into perspective and tell the complete story.
Even the percentage of poor went up, as did kids w/o food, working poor, kids w/o health care. Lots of other indices; use google.

What papers do you read? Washington Times, WSJ only?

Try as they might to stick McCain with this one, it's stupid. Even the prosecution of the Keating Five concedes that since the other four were Democrats, they "had" to keep McCain in there so that they could claim that it wasn't "partisan". He had done nothing wrong and was cleared of any wrong doing.

Give the man a cigar. The previous Democratic administration gutted the US military capability. Then the Democrats blame Bush for not having a capable military.
Savings & Loan scandal: Bush relative (but I'll admit I'm not really up on the details).

TIM TIM- No, we are not blaming Bush for lack of military capabilty:

a. We had enough to handle the true issue: Afghanistan

b. We blame this admin for starting a pointless war.

c. For going in w/o proper planning

d. For not waiting until equipment was ready

e. For ignoring the availabilty of vehicles that could withstand IEDs as they weren't built here. The Marines have asked for investigation into this, those left-wing wackos. You should write a letter of complaint. Those commies.

f. For ignoring all warnings about what might happen. Could've asked Bush I.
Or, Cheney I.

g. For forcing Gen Shinseki out when he spoke the truth.

h. For lying to us and Congress: a Federal offense.

i. For no-bid, no accountability, Blackwater, construction projects 100% over budget and abandoned.

j. For hundreds of millions in cash lost somehow.

k. For getting over 4000 of our people killed, over 100,000 Iraqis.

l. For not providing proper care for veterans.

m. For strengthening Iran (which Iraq helped keep in check)

n. For ruining our standing in the world.

o. For scaring naive people such as you into voting for them.

p. For ignoring terrorism until 9/12.

q. For putting kids/unqualified cronies in charge of Iraq. Eg: Banking: 26 yr old. Traffic: His younger brother.

r. For having no one in charge of Iraq for 2 years.

s. For not supporting Bowen, the one guy doing his job there.

t. For having an incompetent Rice in power.

u. For ignoring Israel-Palestine issues, which are major in the area, until it was too late.

v. For alienating our allies.

w. For making everything partisan and dividing our country (Yes, "I'm a uniter, not a divider" was another lie.)

You know, I could easily get to z and start again with aa. THEN, I could start with domestic policy errors, move onto why we decided India could have the bomb but not sign the non-proliferation treaty, what finally worked with Korea, what isn't working with Iran...

But, alas, reality, logic, facts are of no value with some of you people. You guys conveniently forget what happened, why and who was responsible. When the wicket gets sticky, you tend to switch topics, argue with straw men, cherry pick tiny pcs of history.

You are a bright guy, but have severe blind spots when it comes to politics.

I have no idea if it's ideology or a fear of admitting grievous errors.

This is an attitude that will continue to hurt our great nation.

quick break

car related humor.

Had I had a camera w/me, this would be in Epic Fails.

Yrs ago, I was helping a friend remove the good parts from his hot-rod Volvo 122S.

We were working at a body shop in Passaic, as my friend was given the use of the lift.

A Spanish guy pulled in with one of those long Chevys. He asked the body shop owner for a repainting estimate.

We all walk out to take a look.

Turns out the guy had tried to paint his car with house paint and a roller...with expectedly poor results.

The body shop owner takes a look, tells the guy he wont' touch his car.

But, he offers the car owner some good advice:

Next time, try aluminum siding!!

I can't type this w/o laughing, and it's been decades...

This post was incredibly condescending.

I'm going to unsubscribe from this thread, as what had been a decent discussion about Obama's nomination bid has been ruined by bickering about party politics between zealots on both sides.

Now you've stepped in it. You're wrong, dead wrong. And it's become an insult to my intelligence that a sheep like you continues to bleat. As just one example of your ignorance, I tried to inform you about the mortgage crisis from my informed and expert point of view, and yet even on that topic you regurgitate the populist party line. You have no integrity, no imagination, and nothing interesting to add. Bye!

Obama's going to win the nomination. The mud on Obama is going to start flying. The swing voters who decide the election are going to get nervous about Bin Laden, Obama or whatever his name is. McCain is going to win. Now go drive your Lotus.

We did invade Iraq but did not occupy or intend to occupy it in the 1st Gulf war.

An invasion is a military action consisting of armed forces of one geopolitical entity entering territory controlled by another such entity, generally with the objective of either conquering, liberating or re-establishing control or authority over a territory, altering the established government or gaining concessions from said government, or a combination thereof. An invasion can be the cause of a war, it can be used as a part of a larger strategy to end a war, or it can constitute an entire war in itself.
