Picture of homemade diffusion panel. I made one similar to this but added PVC legs at the bottom (sort of an inverted T) so it didn't even require light stands to hold it up. The hardware store cut the pieces for me for free, total PVC cost $11.37. Including the various elbows and spacers to put it together. Beacon Fabrics (on the net) sells white parachute cloth that is 59 inches wide for $7 a yard. I used cheap plastic clamps to hold the cloth on the frame (like ones you would use to hold two boards together while you glue them.)

Do you have any details on how it was photographed?

I just got an email from B&H photo... they now have a Canon 1200mm f/5.6 "mother of all telephoto lenses" for sale -- price $99,000

I was thinking the same thing, at first, but decided it was probably a real scene.

Haha. Yup, it's a real scene. A pic of drainage from a sandy pond.

The reason why it looks "small" is because it was photographed with a method called, Tilt-shift photography.

Yup. Here's a poor quality scan of a picture taken from my office. Shot with a Crown Graphic, 135mm, 1/100 @f11 on Polaroid Type 72 4x5.
