The dirt and harsh sun kind of added to the character of this Datsun I found yesterday.

Maui snapshots

I just spent a couple of days on Maui so I bought a Nikon S600 to take some "snapshots"... didn't want to lug around my D200. Original photos were 10 MP but I've resized these to reasonable size.

I had a job interview. If they hire me, I'll telecommute from Arizona and spend about 1 week/month on the island

Great Thread, superb images! WOW!

I had to post this one again, I took a photo of the moon through my 80mm refractor and photoshopped my Elise in this composite. Nice for a screensaver!

Many pages ago I asked about a D300 vs a new lense. I found a used Sigma 120-300 f2.8. It wone me over. It takes a little while to get use to the weight. I now have a mono pod and a Acratech GV2 ballhead (Acratech*::*Ballheads*::*Acratech GV2 Ballhead), but still shoot handheld some. The D70 & 70s both focus faster with this lense as compared to tamron 70-300 f4-5.6 (not suprised) but not quite as fast as the Nikor 70-200 VR that I rented. It was tough to decide between the Nikon and Sigma, but for crew, autocross and other shots that I have been taking the extra bit of throw is nice to have. It did not hurt that the Sigma cost me 200 dollars less than the Nikon.

Shots below were taken using the Aperture Priority mode, jpeg large.

McLean High School Men's 1st 8 on their way to a good finish f3.5 1/400sec

Sometime you don't win. Father/daughter picture, Stotesberry Regata in Philadelphia Pa. f2.8 1/2000sec

But with luck most of the time you do. Va State Champs 2008 f3.5 1/320sec

That's a nice shot! I saw something like this flying into St. Louis around 1980. It was near sunset and the sun was shining between layers of clouds. I always hope I get a chance to see something like that again.

Thanks, I'm sure glad I put my camera in carry on bag.

A short(lucky) sequence I took at Tarifa of two para sailors trying to catch some wind. Close fails, far succeeds.

My principle is: if I take enough shots, one of them is bound to look good
